Cascade Bar

I haven't seen much written bout this place, so I thought I'd add a few comments.

Went in Friday night with my gf in tow. Quite a large place, and definitely something different. Interior is designed to appear as if the whole place is a cave, carved out of the rock (I almost expected the dek serves to turn out to be Fred Flintstone, Wilma, Barney and Betty, and of course a Dino or two).

What is really quite impressive is the stage area - it is a collection of rotating disks, interspersed with stationary platforms and catwalks - all suspended over a recirculating lagoon/river that is fed by a waterfall at one end. 'Had to cost a fortune.

This was maybe 11:00 pm - the place was pretty light on both customers and dancers. Of the dancers in the place, about half were hanging around - even sitting down with customers - topless. No great stunners (it was 11:00 pm on Friday -I'd expect the cream of the crop to be off doing the horizontal mambo with paying clients by then). I did get the strong impression that the girls in this place were of the more aggressively sleazy type - which can be a good thing, if that's what you are looking for.

A number of the dancers were really going at it, and doing a good job of looking slutty, yet athletic, and alluring.

I did note a couple of Katoeys in the mix. As we entered, this heavy-set lady appearing to approach 60 years old, and (thankfully) dressed in a full-length Chinese opera type gown, was doing a lip-synch cabaret song (some Thai version of a Broadway-type number), but it was over within 90 seconds, and she disappeared. No clue what that was about.

About two minutes before we left, some invisible signal must have occurred, because the girls all quickly donned their tops, and added a layer of filmy lacy nothingness around their waists, presumably to cover up their panties (which was ridiculous, as these were even skimpier than the "skirts" worn at Dollhouse Soi Cowboy).

I don't pay much attention to drink prices - I think they were standard Crown prices of 110 baht per beer. Service attentiveness was very good, without being pushy. The air conditioning was very effective - which is why we ultimately left after one round (gf was chilly). During our brief visit, the music was a mix of rock, and a bit of heavy metal, but all at reasonable volume, and seemingly well-matched to the dancers styles (portraying the sleazy groupie types).

Overall, this place is worth a visit. Imaginative, with some significant investment thrown in. Slutty women, to boot. Go for it!!!

Let the good times roll!!!!

Nice review SS about a gogo bar you seldom hear anything about.

IMO there is a reason for that, and my reason is that it is one of the worst gogo bars around. I found little to like about the place. I thought the lineup of women was abysmal. The highlight in this area was seeing the 49-year old former dancer at DC-10 and dance contest winner 'perform.'

The dancers are kms away from the seating area and it is dark. I often felt like I was watching a rock concert with the lights out from the back row of the stadium.

The music simply blew. Too loud and the content was crap.

This would be the very last gogo bar I would take visitors to in NEP.

Yes, even after Casanova and Obsessions.

PS Hope to see you soon when I get back. I still owe you a beer.

It's funny how ones impression of a place can differ so widely.

I for one think Cascade is quite alright! The cave decor is kind of funky, the employees seems to have a good attitude and there's even one or two dancers that look mighty alright. The downside would be that the place is kind of empty since they're constantly (?) low on customers. On the other lots of elbow room for all sorts of antics :)

In my book Cascade gets a ***-rating out of five. That's a higher rating than Midnite (ugly chicks), Angelwitch (bad attitude), Mandarin (as crappy as Blue Wave, Big Blue & what not by the same owner) and Long Gun (never a seat available). All in my humble opinion, of course :)

I agree with Stone Soup and Sarasin. I have never seen many attractive girls in this bar and the dancing was not impressive. The interior is interesting, but the bar is not.

Because of the interesting interior, it has potential to improve, but right now, on a scale of 1 to 5, I would give this bar a 1.5.

Seemed pretty good when I tried it in Sept, apart from the girl I BF'd. The only thing I was not keen on was the porn on the monitor, don't know why but I never like this very much.If you go in a cake shop you don't really need to see films of people eating the damn things do you. Music too loud, certainly seems to be in a lot of bars, could not hear what a girl was trying to say in playskool so just left my drink and went somewhere else, what's the volume like in casanova mr S ?-peter

She used to work at two different places at NEP - including Woodstock. It was her idea to go check out a new place. I'm actually not that big of a go-go crawler - I spend a lot of time at pool playing places, and some at out-of-the-way beer bars - Washington Square, Soi Zero, etc.

Cheers!

Not reay used to se ant TV monitor in cake shops actuallly...Porno movies are an incentive to stay InMyHornyOpinion.Watched them for years and not bored yet...besides it's easy to find a movie more interesting than a gogo stage

I remember several months ago when there was a lot of hype prior to opening of this bar, then much disappointment when it turned out to be pretty much of a dud.

My one visit there confirmed the "dud" opinion expressed by others. I may stop in to have a look on next trip, but it won't be anywhere near top of my list of places to visit.
