Each generation is, I suppose, different, yet the same. Yes, we were “know it alls” but know it alls relative to certain limits. Many of us sought out the true places early on, and did maybe know a thing or 2 WHEN WE WERE FINISHED, and may have been a bit “twatish” about it at times. These kids just know, because they read something someone like them wrote on line. The “Spiritual tattoo experience” has apparently become so jacked up that Wat Ban Phra has now become a farang ink seeking KSR type of scene, so much so that Thais who really believe in this stuff cannot get in. Basically another thing ruined. One “old well known punter” had a good take on it, he basically said todays traveler is most likely a 1 time tourist, he or she will only be here once and will leave their mark, unknowingly, in a bad way. He, and others, maybe including myself, think the current crop of KSR douche bags are much worse than years back, they simply don’t really give a shit about what they claim to seek. They are here to party with other farang, hook up with other farangs, eat shitty over priced street food and banana pancakes thinking it is “real Thai food…” and just generally being annoying. I occasionally run into them at the temples in the San Francisco area, Berkeley being the worst, and they always, as Bust said, want to pontificate their knowledge, even going as far as to correct Thais about their own culture…127 style… A few years back, pre wife and covid, a group of us, the old board guard as it were, were out in our usual haunt on Soi Cowboy, in came a group of kids from KSR and proceeded to be douche bags, this group was mostly British. You could see 1-2 of the guys liked what they saw, the others maybe just hid it better, the girls in the group had real attitudes. Suadam (RIP) and I struck up a conversation with them when they started asking us all kinds of questions. One of the girls had the audacity to ask “…how can you exploit these poor girls like this..?” I asked “do you want to fuck? “ she of course said no (obviously a lesbo) so I said “…Jeab, you’re up honey…” and left. Suadfam continued to annoy them a bit more…

So we were having breakfast a few days back and in come these 2 American girls, good looking I guess, for white chicks. They were seated at the table touching ours and said hello etc…then they started… ‘…Thai guys keep hitting on me and staring at me, it makes me UN comfortable…” Could it be that when you bend over, I can see full tit,nipples included? Has she a clue..? Or is it her right to display her boobs and no one should look? They were staying up by KSR, had the big but empty back packs, down this way to check out the shopping and a tattoo shop because they want to get “traditional Buddhist tattoos called “SKY Yants or something” (their mispronounced and exact words)…” They were slightly annoyed that the wait staff at the restaurant did not fully understand English as fast as they spoke it “…you’d think they’d brush up a bit if they want tourist business …” Back to the tattoo shop, apparently, there is a shop on Soi 4 that does the sacred “SKY Yants.” I informed them there was a temple outside of Bangkok, Wat Bang Phra, maybe an hour or so by car that does them the true traditional way and maybe they should check it out if they want the real deal… they informed me that this shop has an “Ajarn (they pronounced the J hard)” I asked if they knew what an Ajarn was and they informed me “…it is a Buddhist holy man…” at this point my head was ready to explode… they informed me they had read up on this on instagram the internet etc…and had a bit of that 20+ year old “enlightened know it all” aire about them…it was clear they were “…intelligent independent strong women…” so yeah… Now You have to really appreciate these types, they travel thousands of miles to experience the real Tghailand and have a deep experience by hanging around an area known as a farang/backpacker ghetto, partying with other farang, going to a full moon party (these 2 had that planned as well) were asking for advise, but weren’t going to take it. They were going to have a deep spiritual experience by getting tattoos at 11pm in a tattoo shop located in a red light zone full of the types of people they resent/hate (they couldn’t stand “…all these miserable old men with girls half their age…” then in a few weeks, go back to the USA or UK or Where ever and wear their Elephant print pants telling everyone how connected they are to “the real Thailand…” Never liked these types, and the older I get the more I dislike them yet find them amusing…. All I can really say is “Damned kids..!” Or “…These kids today…” I must be getting old…

I will enlighten the world with a post on this topic…not sure what forum to post it in as it covers many areas…

That is the real problem…over the years, I’ve racked up an impressive body count, as any respectable punter will. I blessed my game far an wide around the globe…I have run into the passed in many areas, I’d never expect…Las Vegas, Thai temple in the SF Bay Area, hospital worker in Bangkok…it never seems to end, there really is no distance too far or any time long enough, and Bust is correct, Thai girls never forget… KSR, or the area near there does have some decent places, it is just the douche bag youngster crowd on KSR that tweets me at times…more on them later…

Well there is that side of the coin as well then…. Basically, my wife does not know Bangkok, and having figured, wrongly apparently, that enough time had passed since my last forey into this neck of the shire, all would be good. She also expressed interest in seeing the area as she had seen it on YouTube…sadly, or worsely, she has also expressed interest in seeing Khao Saran Road…Stayed out by On Nut before, cheaper and a bit nicer, we usually don’t stay in this area, but last minute embassy business etc…

So we, Mrs. Hippie and I were walking down the street yesterday and in the general area between Soi 7 and 7/1, some girl, who I may or may not know/have known long ago, perks up smiles and starts towards us, I shook my head and waived her off with my hand. Mrs. Hippie noticed the girl’s actions and asked if I knew her I said “…no, don’t think so…” she said “…maybe you know her from before..?” I said “…maybe, but I don’t recognize met, maybe she’s just looking for a customer…who knows?” That was the end of it. But seriously, it was obvious I was with my wife or another woman, so why make trouble, just be quiet and move along, no need to spark attention…serious lack of professionalism with these girls these days…

100% agree with you! Same in the states! You/we as hetero sexual white men have no claim when it happens to us. If we do complain, the complaint is somehow dismissed as “different.” Yet, those protected people will keep saying “…wait until it happens to you..!” We point out it just did and they tell us “…it’s different when we do it…” or “…now you know how it feels…” as if that dismisses it. I tell these people “…if you want to really know about discrimination, don’t drag up what happened years ago, just try being a middle aged heterosexual white man in San Francisco, everybody is against you…” Frankly I find it all amusing, and I think when the line gets pushed too far, there is some backlash, which does happen from time to time and when it does, these protected groups get the slap they deserve.

Some here are calling for the deportation of these people. Interesting enough, some news outlets are referring to the Thais as “lady Boys” and using “Filipino” (term for male) as opposed to “Filipina” for the Pinoys who think they are Pinays… For clarification purposes, the incident took place on Soi 11/1 where it sort of curves onto Soi 11. Just returned from Dinner, large police and media presence along Soi 5 and 15. Saw many different police uniforms, some of which I have not seen before. Some VIP was walking along being interviewed and I will assume the incident may not yet be completely over. Not sure which hotel was involved.

Tried to use my Bangkok Bank ATM card and was told it isn‘T working and to contact the bank. Given the holiday, the bank is closed until tomorrow…have enough cash and can use my American ATM cards and pay the fee, but that defeats the purpose of having the Bangkok Bank ATM card…pisses me off… THEN, I tried to move money around on one of my USA accounts, and online access is denied…never was before, again, pisses me off…ok, vent over, off to install a TV at my mother in laws…cheap here!

The “very stable genius,” like most people, does not understand the Israel/Palestinian conflict and the role of “sub contractors” such as Hamas, Hezbollah etc…NO ONE DOES!! Not even the Israelis or the Palestinians. All they understand is their hatred for one another and their desire to kill each other… I say let them kill each other and we will move on with the result.
