  1. The Buddhist monk protesting in South Vietnam was pretty memorable. Most likely because a press photographer captured it. If my memory serves me correct is was an award winning photograph.
  2. Serving US Air Force member sets himself on fire outside Israeli embassy in ‘genocide’ protest Graphic video of incident shows man yelling ‘I will no longer be complicit in genocide" Plenty of places to view the video online if you have the need. Most alarming part is the moronic behavior of the police captured in it. Especially the one at the end with his gun drawn on the soldier 🙄 US Secret Service vehicles block access to a street leading to the Embassy of Israel in Washington, DC on February 25, 2024. A man reportedly set himself on fire near the embassy on Sunday afternoon A man who set himself on fire outside the Israeli embassy in Washington DC on Sunday in an apparent protest against the Gaza war is a serving member of the US Air Force, a spokesperson confirmed. The US Air Force serviceman suffered life-threatening injuries and remains in critical condition at a hospital. The man filmed his protest and livestreamed the video on social media platform Twitch shortly before 1pm local time on Sunday. The graphic footage shows him shouting “I will no longer be complicit in genocide” and “I am about to engage in an extreme act of protest” as he stood in front of the embassy gates. He then kept his phone down to film himself pouring a clear liquid from a metal bottle and setting himself alight. He also shouts “Free Palestine!” before falling to the ground. Law enforcement officers then approached the man and successfully put out the flames. The fire was extinguished by members of the uniformed division of the US Secret Service, a spokesperson told The Independent. The video was removed from Twitch as the platform stated that it violated its guidelines. But police said they have obtained and reviewed a copy. A bomb disposal unit was dispatched to the location due to suspicions surrounding a questionable vehicle potentially linked to the individual in question. Officials later cleared the suspicious vehicle and found no hazardous materials inside.
  3. Haha nice to see someone is paying attention. Irony. One of the best ways to sometimes make a point. This still one of my favorite scenes.

  11. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2024/feb/16/donald-trump-financial-fraud-case Donald Trump, his eldest sons and associates have been ordered to pay over $350m by a New York judge who found them guilty of intentionally committing financial fraud over the course of a decade. “The frauds found here leap off the page and shock the conscience,” Judge Arthur Engoron wrote in his decision. In a devastating blow for the former president who had built his reputation as a successful real estate developer, Engoron barred Trump and two other executives from serving as officers or directors of any corporation or entity in New York for three years. His sons, Eric and Donald Trump Jr, were banned for two years. The three-month hearing was an often heated affair with Trump attacking Engoron in and out of the courtroom. The former president’s decision to take on the judge appeared to backfire.
  12. Blame Piers Morgan for that 5555
  13. Can also mean to begin to practice or use but grammatically you are probably correct. Still blame the UK
  14. Which is why I used the term "adopted" meaning they introduced it in their own version. Like I said not big on the study of the Constitution or for that matter the UK Bill of Rights 😋 But I may look into them
  15. "AMENDMENT" The process of altering or amending a law or document. Right to Bear Arms was adopted from the British Bill of Rights.....Thanks England. Although I haven't really studied the American Constitution I was under the belief that it was widely embraced during the Civil War. So given the current political climate in Amerika could become relevant once more 😃

  20. He's an absolute CUNT Investigative journalist Anthony Baxter travels between the US Presidential race and the Scottish countryside to chronicle the troubling confrontation between Donald Trump and a feisty 92-year-old widow, Molly Forbes, as she refuses to make way for his golf course. This shocking insight to a David and goliath battle is a remarkable document of the disconnect between political rhetoric and the lives of ordinary people.
  21. Never read it but someone once recommended Touch The Dragon. Canadian girls journey through LOS on a Rotary Exchange Program. Not sure if that's what you are looking for. I enjoyed Restless Souls set up on The Burmese Border. Bit bias as I know the author 😊
  22. What an idiot 🙄 NATO chief says Donald Trump puts US troops, allies at risk by saying Russia can 'do whatever the hell they want' with them Posted 9h ago9 hours ago, updated 8h ago8 hours ago Donald Trump encourages Russia to attack NATO members who fail to contribute. In short: Donald Trump's suggestion the US should not protect NATO allies failing to spend on defence "undermines all of our security," the military alliance's chief says. European officials have also criticised the remarks, saying the US election campaign is no excuse to play with the security of NATO members. What's next? Mr Trump is in the lead to secure the Republican nomination in the US 2024 presidential election. The head of NATO has warned that Donald Trump is putting the lives of US troops and their allies at risk by saying Russia should do "whatever the hell they want" to members of the military alliance who don't spend enough on defence. Mr Trump is the Republican front-runner in the 2024 US presidential election. "Any suggestion that allies will not defend each other undermines all of our security, including that of the US, and puts American and European soldiers at increased risk," NATO secretary-general Jens Stoltenberg said in a statement. "Any attack on NATO will be met with a united and forceful response." Donald Trump made the comments during a wide-ranging speech in South Carolina. Speaking at a rally in South Carolina on Saturday, Mr Trump recalled how he previously told an unidentified NATO member that he would "encourage" Russia to do as it wishes in cases of NATO allies who are "delinquent". "'You didn't pay? You're delinquent?'" Mr Trump recounted saying. "'No I would not protect you. In fact I would encourage them to do whatever the hell they want. You gotta pay. You gotta pay your bills." White House spokesperson Andrew Bates responded, calling Mr Trump's latest comments "unhinged". "Encouraging invasions of our closest allies by murderous regimes is appalling and unhinged — and it endangers American national security, global stability, and our economy at home," he said. US President Joe Biden also commented in a statement. "If my opponent, Donald Trump, is able to regain power, he is making it clear as day that he will abandon our NATO allies if Russia attacks," he said. "[His] admission that he intends to give Putin a green-light for more war and violence, to continue his brutal assault against a free Ukraine, and to expand his aggression to the people of Poland and the Baltic states are appalling and dangerous." European officials criticise Trump's comments EU Internal Market Commissioner Thierry Breton was asked in an LCI television interview about Mr Trump's remarks on Saturday. "We cannot flip a coin about our security every four years depending on this or that election, namely the US presidential election," he said, adding EU leaders understood the bloc needed to boost its military spending and capacities. Is Trump fit to be president? The US Supreme Court is weighing Trump's presidential eligibility in an unprecedented case legal experts warn could have sweeping ramifications for the 2024 election race. Here's what you need to know. Read more Mr Trump's remarks also caused deep concern in Poland, which has been under Russian control before, and where anxieties are high over Russia's invasion of Ukraine. "We have a hot war at our border," Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said, voicing concerns about whether the US will show "full solidarity with other NATO countries in this confrontation that promises to last for a long time with Russia". "We must realise that the EU cannot be an economic and civilisational giant and a dwarf when it comes to defence, because the world has changed," he argued in a town hall speech marking the start of his party's campaign for local elections. Polish Defence Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz also weighed in. "NATO's motto 'one for all, all for one' is a concrete commitment. Undermining the credibility of allied countries means weakening the entire NATO," he wrote on social media platform X. "No election campaign is an excuse for playing with the security of the Alliance." In 2014, NATO allies pledged to move toward spending 2 per cent of GDP on defence by 2024. According to NATO estimates in early 2023, 10 of its 30 member states at the time were close to or above the 2 per cent mark, while 13 were spending 1.5 per cent or less. No country is in debt to any other, or to NATO. Under NATO's mutual defence clause, Article 5 of its founding treaty, all allies commit to help any member who comes under attack. The article has only ever been activated once — by the US in the wake of the September 11 terrorist attacks in 2001. AP/Reuters
