Absinthe in BKK?

They sell it in Carrefour for 875 baht a bottle (bought some last night).

They have some in the Duty Free at the airport too for 1,680 a bottle.

Be sure it is *real* absinthe with the wormwood (aka thujone). Lots of fakers out there with just a high alcohol content (e.g., 120+ proof). The later is NOT absinthe...and doubtful the B875 model is much more than green coloured lao kao. Decent absinthe is ~US$50/bottle (500-700ml) anywhere you buy it.

Real absinthe turns milky when mixed with water.

CTO, correct that a soi 33 bar had some. But a punter brought it in and it was private stock.

Cheers,

SD

Arhhhh,

"Death in the Afternoon"

Absinthe and champagne mix....breakfast of "Champions"....lol

Heard tales of a well known "punter" taking a botten back to Bkk and opening it in a certain Bar, where several of the girls helped him "sample the delights"....

As they say..Absinthe make the heart grow fonder...

LOL

Cheers DC :grinyes::beer::_party::_party::beer::grinyes::sex::sex::sex::yikes: :hubba: :hubba: :grinyes:

Is it really much different to Pastis or Pernod?

Both turn milky when water is added, I thought it was the aniseed that caused it.

Used to know a few French expats in Vientiane and occasionally enjoyed a late morning Pastis and water with them.

Very civilized.
