  1. The Emerald Forest 1985 - unmitigated rubbish, only saved by innumerable young Amazonian girls in the buff. The Good The Bad And The Ugly 1966 - A classic, well worth watching again.
  2. Still 9.5 hrs to go here, Happy New Year all...
  3. Haven't seen it yet, still on the d/l, but seeing your colleagues reasons for seeing it or not, I too will see it, not because of any particular, social reasoning, but more because I'll watch anything that takes the piss out of Kim Jong Iteration.
  4. New evidence Sony hack was ‘inside’ job, not North Korea US cybersecurity experts say they have solid evidence that a former employee helped hack Sony Pictures Entertainment’s computer system — and that it was not masterminded by North Korean cyberterrorists. One leading cybersecurity firm, Norse Corp., said Monday it has narrowed its list of suspects to a group of six people — including at least one Sony veteran with the necessary technical background to carry out the attack, according to reports. 5. And in the most insensitive handling of a situation like this - ever - "Graphic images of the passengers of AirAsia Flight QZ8501, now floating semi-naked corpses, were broadcast by an Indonesian news channel and appeared on six wide-screen televisions inside the room where families, including several young children, were waiting for news of the missing airliner." Missing A Bargain

from wiki Banksy began as a freehand graffiti artist in 1990–1994[13] as one of Bristol's DryBreadZ Crew (DBZ), with Kato and Tes.[14] He was inspired by local artists and his work was part of the larger Bristol underground scene with Nick Walker, Inkie and 3D.[15][16] During this time he met Bristol photographer Steve Lazarides, who began selling Banksy's work, later becoming his agent.[17] From the start Banksy used stencils as elements of his freehand pieces, too.[13] By 2000 he had turned to the art of stencilling after realising how much less time it took to complete a work. He claims he changed to stencilling while he was hiding from the police under a rubbish lorry, when he noticed the stencilled serial number[18] and by employing this technique, he soon became more widely noticed for his art around Bristol and London.[18] He played football with the Easton Cowboys and Cowgirls in the 1990s and toured with the club to Mexico in 2001.[19] Banksy's first known large wall mural was "The Mild Mild West" painted in 1997 to cover advertising of a former solicitors' office on Stokes Croft Avenue, Bristol. It depicts a teddybear lobbing a Molotov cocktail at three riot police.[20] so who was on the football team to Mexico?
  8. Quite right, most Arab nations live in the dark ages. On the other hand, sticking your hand out, to the savage dog, is not the wisest course of action either

  15. Only Lovers Left Alive 2013 - Dark Arty, very well done, Tilda Swinton whom I like, good movie, but I want 2 hours of my life back. The Broken Shore 2013 - Aussie, detective with a troubled past - worth a watch The Double 2013 - Dark Arty, very well done, from the Dostoevsky, in contrast to the "Only Lovers Left Alive" above, everyone should see this, a thinker's movie, very well worth the watch.
  16. So now, anyone with sufficient computer nous can dictate what some in the west can or cannot do. This article, http://www.stuff.co....-hack-after-all seems to suggest nothing is likely to be done about this.
  17. On Topkapi - - The suspense, fun filled entrance to the Topkapi museum was stolen and disguised with a multi million dollar budget by Brian De Palma and his accomplices in the first Mission Impossible without being able to duplicate the suspense, the fun, the humanity or the innocence of the proceedings.
  18. Some of these have been posted earlier, I've watched them on those recommendations: The Equalizer 2014 - Enjoyable, worth a watch, if only I could fight like that. The November Man 2014, Good, worth a watch The Usual Suspects 1995, an oldie but a goodie, I'd forgotten the ending, well worth a watch Topkapi 1964, I wish they'd make more movies like this, in the vein of The Pink Panther, Ustinov, Morley, Schell, and Mercouri (great voice) well worth a watch
  19. The Legal and justice system reform committee proposes the model of reorganization of the Royal Thai Police Office 1. Dissolution of the human resource executive [This is the internal police committee that overseas promotions in the force. At all levels of the police, large bribes are required to move up in rank.] Dissolution of the OPC (Office of the Police Commission)Establishment of the National Police Affairs Council [comprising the following] – Head of security-related government agency – Head of justice system/judiciary – National Human Rights Committee members – Persons selected by the members of parliament and senators – Citizens who can participate in the appointment and transfer of police officers [as well] [The inclusion of these parties in a committee on police promotions and transfers strikes at the heart of Thaksin and Red Shirt dogma as their plan for reconciliation is that the judiciary and NGOs be stripped of power to intrude into government affairs.] 2. Dissolution of the Royal Thai Police Office [meaning the end of the centralization of all police into a common command] Transfer the following agencies – Forest police to the Forest Department – Railway police to the State Railway of Thailand – Tourist police to the Ministry of Tourism and Sports[At present the police provide security within ministries and other governmental departments, giving them influence and intelligence capabilities throughout the system. The new plan would allow ministries to command their own specialized security forces apart from the centralized law enforcement function of the national police.] Source How could this go wrong?
  20. It would seem it's real and that Sony has decided not to release "The Interview" in response to threats to target theatres that show the movie. 2 thoughts come to mind: Sony genuinely care about their audiences and pulled the movie to prevent any injury to same. This has never bothered the movie makers of films about Iraq or Iran or Afgannystan. The hackers got enough information to destroy Sony - this is more likely IMHO

  23. No, I bought when it was on the way up and it promptly crashed, remaining to this day, well below my buy price. The reason the oil price is falling, is that I bought when it was over 100 a barrel, it's been falling ever since. I've sent a letter to Apple offering to refrain from investing in their company if they give me a new iPhone...
