Looks like Putin wants the Eastern part of Ukraine to be autonamous from the rest which would give Russia control over this region.The Ukraine Govt. know that despite all the rhetoric from NATO,the West is not prepared to have a military conflict with Russia over this issue,so I would guess they will have no option but to negotiate with the rebels and come to a settlement which gives them ( the rebels ) what they want.

They should do something about the bus station at Morchit - the place is a real mess - getting off the bus one is besieged by touts offering spurious advice.No signs anywhere giving directions.Its quite close to the skytrain so in theory you could connect with Downtown or the airport but the lack of information makes it well nigh impossible

The only time I`ve ever been asked to show my passport was on the bus from Mair Sot to Tak.At the checkpoint all the Thais had to show their ID cards and the soldier searched my backpack and looked through my passport.They seemed rather nervous to see a Farang in that neck of the woods or maybe its just me that looks suspicious ......that was several yrs back,nothing since then.Slightly worrying that this 2000 bt fine is mentioned again as it gives an excuse for unscrupulous MIBs to shake down tourists in the same way as they do with the cigarette dropping scam on Suk.

The first priority of a govt. should be to protect the lives of its people.In this case Hamas seems to enjoy playing soldiers while Israel destroys large parts of Gaza.I mean what is the point - 90 % of their rockets get shot down anyway They need to come to their senses and realise military conflict is not the way to go.

Absolutely...its completely illogical why one should be tolerated and the other banned ...it couldn`t be because one is traditional in Jewish/Christian culture while the other is foreign could it ?

Trade sanctions will hurt both parties and may not really be effective.Parts of Europe rely heavily on gas supplies from Russia.However if the situation gets worse in Ukraine it will have a big influence on European attitudes to doing business and investing in Russia.
