  1. FARK - I just wasted 10 minutes on a 12 year old thread! There I was thinking WOW the board was busy last night! Frickin idiot I am! Anyway, I won a 3 day 2 night weekend at a time share on Gold Coast years ago, told my parents, they said they'd go and stay there, Thought they'd get a hard sell while there, but didn't happen, genuine win. I suspect in countries with real laws, time share maybe sometime ok'ish In places like Thailand, Run Away

Thainess: a panel discussion Foreign Correspondents' Club of Thailand Thainess: a panel discussion "Thainess represents the unique character of Thailand, which embodies centuries-old cultural values and social practices. The upholding of the three main pillars - the nation, religion and the monarchy, the preservation of Thai traditions and culture...." --Thailand's prime minister General Prayuth Chan-o-cha. Since the 1932 revolution to end absolute monarchy, campaigns to construct the Thai identity became tools to unify the country. Even now, under yet another military regime, "Thainess" has again become a cornerstone and is being redefined and promoted through campaigns by the Thailand Tourism Authority and the Ministry of Culture. But what exactly is Thainess? How has the definition of "Thainess" evolved through the years? And how does it help or hurt Thai society? Join us for a stimulating evening with notable speakers including: Philip Cornwel-Smith, author of "Very Thai: Everyday Popular Culture" Somtow Sucharitkul, noted composer and conductor and award-winning novelist. Chattan Kunjara Na Ayudhaya, Executive Director, Advertising and Public Relations Department of the Tourism Authority of Thailand
  6. S31 Duplex are awesome, food is so so, the pool is fun too, and cheap to boot, use the balance to hire a in room maid/breakfast mate.
  7. Have to dig out a photo I took in Bali years ago, Some temple with monkeys lounging on the temple walls, about 6ft, 2m high, tourist walk along and go "oooh, look monkeys" Two Japanese girls asked a friend to photograph them standing under an older monkey sitting on the wall, and happily kept posing as a growing larger group of tourists started taking photos of the scene, egging them on to keep posing. This was pre-digital camera age, so must have been a laugh at the Tokyo Fuji shop when they developed the photo's to see the monkey furiously masturbating over their heads.

  14. All beliefs have there extremes, and pretty much all of them have shown themselves to be capable of vile acts Buddhists in Sri Lanka and Myanmar advocating slaughter of non believers, Muslims doing the same Christians doing the same Pretty much all religions have people doing the same, Maybe that's the common denominator? My REAL issue with this is my wife and children. We've seen governments invoke laws in the wake of 9/11 that have since been used to do many things not related to 9/11 or even terrorism. The UK caused thousands to loose life savings as it used it's terrorism laws to overtake banks in Iceland. The USA uses it's laws for many different things, So when I say I oppose this 1 - I believe we should prosecute and jail them, no issue 2 - If we set the president of revoking the citizenship, how do we know when government will use that in other ways. So that in the future my wife's citizenship, my children's, is cast under a cloud because this was allowed. If we grant citizenship, and maybe we grant it too easy, but when we do, it should be irrevocable, otherwise we are no less than the NAZI's who revoked Jewish citezenship, because THEN the masses believed the bullshit flowing from the media, as it does now, and BELIEVED it was good to revoke those Jewish citizen.s I'd like the think, maybe falsely, that Australia is better than that. Better than believing the hype, the hatred, and smart enough to protect the fundamental laws we grant ALL citizens. wife beaters, priests, terrorists, murders, dole bludgers, what ever, Once we begin to throw those fundermentals away, we are no better than scum, and personally, I then fear for my family.
  15. You really have to wonder, regardless what if any side you are on, "They" have had multiple coups against Thaksin, and only now revoke his passports? It's a coup, they can do anything they like, and it takes them 10 years. Amazing, seriously amazing

  17. And of course Australia applied the same rules to the thousands, maybe 10's thousands of Yugoslav/Australians who fought on both sides in the Serbian, Kosovo and other incidents in the old Yugoslav states? Nope . . . . . . Many children grow up tangential to their parents. The more extreme the more tangential often.
