Hollywood raided for Drugs 28th feb

The only thing all of us were worried is how reliable these fly-by-night drugs tests are, after all TIT !

Whilst I am no expert on drug testing, I have some experience in the procedures. Whereas they are using urine samples and a chemical reagent, (according to your description of the process), I can only presume that they are only looking for one drug. Presumably that would be for YaBa.

The complexities, training and COST of multidrug testing are most likely beyond the scope of these impromptu operations.

Perhaps someone with more medical knowledge could comment.

 Just hope the vials are clean and that no one really wants to "get" you. :banghead:

"So everyone in the venue gets tested regardless if you are a tourist or not? That is insane! What if you are from Amsterdam where it is legal to smoke pot and your on vacation in LOS?"

..................................................................

No, its not insane. Its peoples own responsibility to keep updated on the situation in the country you are going to.

Throw away all ideas about whats "right" and adapt, or stay home. Of course they test tourists as well, are you implying that they should impose some kind of apartheid and keep away from the tourists?

Cheers!

I have to agree here, if you know you are going to visit a place, then best to clean up your act before you go. As for other countries, USA will prosecute you for sex crimes commited over seas, as well as drug offenses. The newspapers reported (a few years back) that Singapore had jailed 2 Singaporeans for smoking pot in the USA, they tested positive when they returned from attending University. Have heard of Islamic countries going nuts over alcohol consumption abroad, the list is endless!

I know a gal who got tested positive at a RCA raid (not a BG and BKK girl). I'm fairly certain she's not a user. She said it was due to diet pills she's been taking.

Anyway, while I don't have the entire story, she's back at work but have to return to the police station for a re-test in a week.

I understand that individuals who test positive during the on-site urinalysis are then sent escorted to a hospital for confirmation through more accurate testing. This greatly reduces the chances of getting nailed on a false positive, or getting framed by the cops.

It also gives them the oportunity to do a complete test for all the drugs in your system. :banghead: and there is no way you can 'observe' the test results.

In no way is this for your benefit.

Unless you believe all those involved in the hospital/lab are beyond coercian and/or bribes. Of course then you would have to believe all the BGs health books are done 'properly'.

The rules and the expectations that you take for granted at home simply don't apply here. :cussing:

I am not quite so pessimistic as you, as I feel it a rather improbable scenario that the police and hospital would conspire to select and set somebody up.

If I had that kind of fear and paranoia bouncing around in my head, I certainly wouldn't be spending time in Thailand.

Not pessimistic at all.

And I am definately not paranoid or a fear holder here. I'm far more that way in the West. Asia is one of the few places I can and do relax.I feel far safer staggering the worst streets of Bkk than trying to drive through the wrong 'hood' in the west. For the past 25 years it's worked at least.

I just accept the reality that exists here.

Sarisin,

I talked with one other Farang while we were waiting to escape, and he said he had been through this many times at various BKK and Pattaya venues. Once was more than enough for me! Wasn't worried about passing the test, but not being in control of your situation (in a foreign country) is a scary feeling to say the least. I doubt I'll be visiting a disco in Thailand anytime soon.

Whatever the rights and wrongs of the situation are I agree with you 100% about not being in control of your own situation in a foreign country, that is scary, especially one with such a well stated case on drugs like Thailand. If I had been in the line I would have been re running The Bangkok Hilton film in my mind!
