OK they were drunk off their ass -TOO DRUNK TO KNOW WHAT THEY WERE DOING and probably obnoxious AS WELL. BUT stabbing them in the EYE AND HEAD is way out of balance.WAY WRONG WAY WAY WRONG-end of story WHAT WORLD DO YOU LIVE IN? No reason to shout here............ Where does it say they were drunk, or that one has to be drunk to puke ???????? and then why would the non-puker be drunk as well as not to have enough common sense to way for the damage ??????? I suppose you think its acceptable to have your hand chopped off for stealing... or what about stoning for adultery? Really that taxi drivers actions are grotesque... He deserves to go to prison for life for what he has done.... He blinded an educated professional person, one drunken mistake and the guy has no eye.. SUZIBANDIT Posted August 7, 2003 Report Share Posted August 7, 2003 OK so lets say they weren't drinking. So they're taking the Taxi out to Lad Phrao and ole Somchai is in a bit of a hurry. He's racing his car all over the place like a mad man. The guys tell him to slow down a bit, but somchai has got a hot date back down in Saphan Khwai and he needs to get there ASAP. The ask him to slow down. He doesn't, or maybe he doesn't understand or care. As he is racing around a corner, the queesy little Canadian lad loses his khao pat in the back seat. This pisses Somchai off because that is exactly where he was planning to play with Pornthip a few minutes from then. He starts demanding money from the clearly shaken up and sickened guy. The canadian though is equally pissed off because he asked Somchai to slow down, but he didn't. Now he puked on his only dress shirt and his one tie that doesn't have a coffee stain on it. Now he's going to have to wake up early tomorrow and head to the local market to pick up some new work clothes before heading off to teach tomorrow. The last thing he wants to do is give some fuckwit taxi driver extra cash for making him puke. He refuses, and Somchai, still thinking about the fact that now he's going to have to spring an extra 200 baht for a short time room, grows increasingly angry and stabs the guy in the eye. Since we have no idea that the guys were drunk, nor being unreasonable, my story sounds just as legit as any other theory. Either way, unless the guys delibrately pulled down his pants and took a fat steaming shit on the backseat, I can't see how anyone can justify someone getting stabbed in the eye over this. Zaad Posted August 7, 2003 Report Share Posted August 7, 2003 I don't think anybody can say that these two drunks got the right punishment, BUT wouldn't you expect a smarter move from a university lecturer or actually anyone at that? The cab driver should never have stabbed them in the first place, but they should've known MUCH BETTER by now as they're living and working here that these people are not to mess with, whether you're drunk or sober, farang or Thai. I am sure everybody has had a little too much to drink... It seems that people have got a bee in their bonnet because these people "should have known better" I dont / cant see how any decent person can really belive these guys deserved what they got... That taxi driver is a monster who needs to be caught, we all have out jobs and get frustrated at our customers... but we dont lash out and blind people when things dont go to plan.. People are being to quick to label these guys arrogant tossers, who rode rough shod over the cabbie and got their just deserves... We do not know whether the two farang have insulted the taxi driver or not (beyond refusing to pay a fair compensation for puking) . We know only one side of the story. It would really be interesting to hear the other sides' story as well. The taxi driver might have overreacted but the 2 farang were real assh.... who deserved some lesson. :onfire: Sadly that one of them might lose his eyesight. Of course the cabbie is totally wrong in pulling a knife, I dont think any poster here approves of that. This being said, we all know the violent tendency of Thai people, so why push your luck. What I condone is that those 2 stupid farang refused to pay to have it cleaned and hence looked for trouble........... 'nugh said....... Cheers !
