not on the left, straight ahead pretty much, where the walkway turns left. But yes, just up past the internet shop (before Soi 15) with all the glass, between two small beer bars. If you are walking straight into the shop, the barber chair is in a room off to the right, and a set of stairs behind that.

A couple odds and ends places.

Kongsil Massage (Sukhumvit Soi 33, across the soilet from Blue BarBQ)

A new place, this has a large, charmless reception area made even less interesting by the lack of staff (only 4 so far, or so I'm told). 2 hour oil massage is 700B, although there's a 20% discount until year-end. For those who want to know what 700B minus 20% equals, the answer is 570B :grin.

There were two ladies present, and against all expectations I was assigned the better looking one. The manager (lady #2) even asked if my lady was an o.k. choice. Unusual, but appreciated.

We went upstairs, where the cubicles are walled (open at the top) with a curtain as the door. Inside each cubicle is an actual bed with a fake brass bedstead. The masseuse lit an aromatic candle, and proceeded with the massage.

The masseuse was pretty good looking, by oily massage standards, and her English was very good as she'd worked in Hong Kong for 5 years (as what, I wonder?). The massage was below average (she said she'd only learned two weeks ago) and the extra was uninspired. No negotiation necessary, but nothing beyond the basic. Cleanup facilities were good; a roomy shower/toilet area with good hot water; only room for one customer at a time, though, so if they're busy (unlikely) you'll have to wait.

The verdict: Not awful, but uninspired. Not really worth the trip. I don't really understand this kind of place. Not legit or upmarket enough to attract the real tourist or female trade (poor location for that, too), yet not naughty enough to encourage any repeat business from oily enthusiasts. I doubt they'll last out the year.

Lovely Massage (Sukhumvit Soi 1)

Lovely is in the eye of the beholder. This is your classic, low-end oily massage place. Small ground floor reception area with massage chairs and an upstairs with curtained-off cubicles and mats on the floor. The majority of the staff are older, heavier, and not especially attractive. At least some of them actually live on the premises.

But, but, but...I had a favorite here (now gone) who never failed to give a great massage and very enthusiastic, affectionate extras. This place also seems to have somewhat of an identity as a straight massage place, as it is also occasionally patronised by expat farang women. Finally, it opens at 7:00 or 7:30, so it's perfect if you have that skull-busting hangover that can only be treated by an immediate oily. Cleanup facilities are essentially nonexistent: tiny shower/toilet on the ground floor. 2 hour oily is 600B.

The verdict: Probably too low-end for most, but if you luck out and find the right masseuse, or need a really early massage this could be the place.

A quick note on Soi 1

The two other most-mentioned Soi 1 spots are Happy House and No. 1 Gentlemen's Club (or whatever it's called now). Happy House is just another brothel: small viewing area with begowned ladies sitting on benches. Contrary to some reports I didn't notice that the ladies were especially old or hefty. When I dropped by the mamasan offered me a price of 1000B. "For 2 hours?", I asked. "Up to you," she replied. I guess you could get a massage here, but that doesn't seem to be the real draw. As for No. 1, I've never seen this place busy and the staff I've seen haven't really made me want to spend time there. The location has got to be killing them.

Healthy Massage (Sukhumvit Soi 7/1, next to Eden, across from World Inn)

This is an odd place. The ladies are definitely for those with specialist tastes: older, heavier, none are what you'd call good-looking.

The reception area is a little lobby area off what appears to be the World Inn annex. Usually a couple ladies and a mamasan are lounging about inside or hanging out at a small table in front. Don't like what you see? Additional ladies are usually stored in a small room in the World Inn near the rooms used for massage. If there's something you want, the boss, Khun Cat, will try to arrange it for you. Her suggestions are nowhere near perfect (remember the staff here), but it may be better than a shot in the dark.

2 hour oily is 500B and you'll be led across to the World Inn and up one flight. One of the rooms is curtained off into three cubicles, each with bed. There is also a single room with a large bed. Ask for this, it doesn't cost any more, and affords more privacy.

This place is an odd mixture of P4P and massage. Odd, because you don't normally expect a heavyset lady in her mid-40s to offer to fuck your brains out for 2000B immediately upon entering the room. The 2000B offer is pure fishing, of course. If you want this (I never did) the offer will drop to a more reasonable level very quickly. Not all ladies will offer everything, some are HJ/TF only.

The cleanup facilities are downright dangerous. A small shower in the toilet with a tub slightly larger than a bucket. Want to turn around? I hope your insurance is paid up. Also, often there's only cold water. Usually your masseuse will bathe you if you like, and are willing to risk your neck.

Why go here? This is another place which opens quite early, if it ever closes. Perfect for treating that morning skull-buster. A couple of the ladies also give a great massage, and the extras are always there if you want them. The drawbacks? I suspect most posters here would find the staff a turn-off, and the ladies can be a bit mercenary over extras.

The verdict: I can't recommend this place with a good conscience, but it is possible to have a good time here. If you're into older and heavier this could be your place.

You mentioned Blue Sky in another post. While I don't care much for the place itself, I happened upon some incredible massages there last year from a Thai-Viet lady who has since left the country. No extras offered, but the massage was primarily focused on the mojo, a specialized skill she said she learned at Wat Po. Lots of activity around the inner thighs and groin area, but no sexual contact. She claimed she could bring an old man back to life in a week of sessions. I'm not that old, but I personally think there is some validity to her claim, given my horniness after seeing her.

I'm just wondering, as you are an afficianado of these places, have you ever encountered a masseuse with this type of specialty?
