Torneyboy
I am out on the road a full day a week ..in and out of clients offices. Try to plug into the phone system...no dial tone. Only offices that have pabx or what we call commander phone systems. Any ideas how to get a connection via these phones? tried the "main" handset ..the one that is used to programme the rest for time/date etc...no joy. End up going to a net cafe. Anyway around these systems?
Nervous_Dog
program your lap top dial up number to be the first digit you press for a outside line, (useually a 9 here) then a "," then the regular dail up number. Had this problem once before and ended up using the fax line. (No comander on that) JB JB
Torneyboy
Hi So...bring up the dial up box..change the number shown..and put a 9 in front? Think we use 0 for these systems ...tried 0 and no joy..tried all hand sets. My main client is a bank..maybe they have a block/security on the line to stop staff useing internet via the system? ..
I believe that some of those systems are digital. You need an analog phone line. Sorry, but it appears you are SOL. Cheers, SD

In your connection settings you probably have checked "wait for dial tone before dialing". That is not going to happen via PABX or via number with extensions. Uncheck the box. Then, in front of the number you want to dial, stick"0,". Yes, with that comma. That should work. Unless...it's a digital line.

"Pulse" - an old thing, hardly ever used, maybe in the countries trying to enter the "developing world" crowd. Uncheck that box with "wait for dial tone" and you are nearly there. Should work from home (over a direct line) and from an analog line from anywhere. I think it comes checked as a default, just change it.
