Fidel
[color:"green"] Find somewhere else to piss your life away boys! And all you alchoholic lepers are really fucked! I copied and pasted the following from Thaivisa.com. [/color] Immigration: Alcoholics not permitted to enter Thailand PHUKET: Alcoholics are not welcomed to Thailand according to Phuket Provincial Immigration Office. Foreigners found to have alcohol problems are not likely get a visa extension either, says Pol Capt Krissarat Nuesen, Deputy Inspector or Phuket Immigration to The Phuket Gazette. People found to be suffering from alcoholism, tubercolosis and leprosy and drug users are not permitted to enter Thailand, according to Pol Capt Nuesen at Phuket Immigration. "Retirees staying in Thailand on a ?retirement? visa are required to show a medical certificate verifying that the applicant is healthy and does not suffer from the above sicknesses." BelgianBoy
All, So, could anybody explain me how different the West is from what Thailand wants to impose on us ? I mean, for any Thai wanting to live in the west, it is custom to have to present a health certificate, no ? BB

Fiery Jack
Hmmn. :: I wonder what definition of "alcoholism" they are using. There are so many. Under some of them, I am clinically an alcoholic (and probably many other board members are too). On the other hand, there are less strict definitions of the term which make only the most unsaveable, chronic, hopleless cases worthy of the label. I genuinely think that I am an alcoholic, but I have seen more than half a dozen doctors in Japan and the UK over the last five or so years (usually concerning other matters, at which times I have mentioned worries about my drinking in passing, but a couple of the visits were with specialists in alcohol abuse at a time in my life when I really thought I was hitting the sauce too hard ) who ? a couple after lengthy consultation and blood/liver function tests and scans and whatnot ? ALL have assured me that, though I clearly have issues with the booze and would do well to take my foot off the gas pedal, I am not (yet) what would technically be called an alcoholic.
