Guest
It is booming but then is it really traditional Thai food?
OCgringo
I think they have been here in Southern California for a long time, most of the larger places seem to have been there for years ! the smaller places come and go , but thats true with most resturants , most do not last 2 years
Coss
Here in Middle Earth there are Thai restaurants everywhere, some quite good but most are "anglicized". Cheers Coss
Torneyboy
Hi Same for Sydney. Except in the Chinatown part of Sydney...they serve traditional Thai..the locals all eat at these.....very good My wifes restaurant caters for the falang palat......when thais go there she adjusts the dish to cater for the Thais ::

Guest lazyphil
Yes alot is traditional/authentic, if cooked by non Thais maybe not, but I doubt that happens much.
bibblies
It makes me laugh how much shite I see paraded as 'Thai' in England. 'Thai Bites'? ROTLFMAO! Also, most English people going to Thai restaurants seem obsessed with little crappy starter things that you never see Thais eating, 'parcels' of stuff... what's that all about? Then the same people are served a pale, spiceless imitation of selected Thai dishes and pronounce that they "love" Thai food! English people have bland tastes, disdain spicy food and wouldn't know proper Thai food if it bit them on the arse.
Fiery Jack
I don't know about that, boss, but my arse is usually "booming" after a few spicy Som Tams and Hot Red Curries when I'm in LOS. Hope that's helpful. jack PS. Slightly on topic, but, in Japan, same-same re, the palpable inauthenticity of Thai grub in general. The 'Family Mart' convenience store chain here did a "Thai" themed menu a few months ago. Watery, bland shite noticeably lacking in fire power. I went to an all-you-can-eat for 500 baht Thai buffet-lunch job in Osaka's Shinsaibashi area once, though, and it was pretty good. They had Singha beer too. But then you had to pay extra for the ale. Nervous_Dog
In Aus they have great names - Thai Foon, Thai Coon, etc. Been in Australia as a very popular food for about 15 + years at least. That said, often run by Vietnamese
