gummigut
There's Kow Tom and then there's Joke. Thais like Kow Tom. I can't take it. It's just too watery. Joke is much thicker. Good Joke takes a couple of hours to make. There's a very good Joke buffet restaurant on Rachada (Course, it's called Kow Tom ????, can't remember the full name). It's great at night when you have the munchies or for breakfast. I also like it with Kai Ma (horse egg). Think it's the same as Kai Kem. <<burp>>
Zaad
One thing I do miss a lot from Phitsanulok is the great 'joke' shop I used to buy my weekly dinner from. Very popular among the locals there. Very thick 'soup' containing egg and ginger. Also often eaten with "pa tong poh" (sp?) which is some sort of fried flour, brown/goldish, that is dipped into the 'joke' or thrown in to make it softer and tastier. Delicious As for Kow Tom it has much more resemblance of a soup IMO.

hub2324
That's exactly why I like Kow Tom with kai in the morning, my favorite hangover remedy when feeling a bit roughed up. Reminds me of grandmas chicken soup. Hub
