Guest
i have just recently installed a highspeed connection. now, there would be one thing i would like to know. is there something like a movie website, where i can download older, or rare movies? i don't mean the kind of software where i can download from others while they also get access to my computer. i have heard some horror stories about viruses that can basically only avoided if one has far more knowledge about protecting a computer than me. what i would like to know if there is something like a member site or so for movies, not porn. anybody can help me there? chelseafan
Well the most (in)famous of them all is probably is suprnova.org this is a good starting point. You will need to install some torrent software, the most popular seems to be Bit Torrent or Azaerus. If you do a google search with "torrents" you will find hundreds of sites. Obviously I am not condoning downloading films as this is most likely to be illegal ::
Guest
don't want that sort of stuff. don't care about the legal aspects (let them fucking prosecute me here in thailand - that's gonna be funny :. what i am afraid of is downloading some seriously nasty viruses, what happened to a friend of mine. i am just not that good enough with computers. i wonder if there is some sort of credit card based membersites for movies. chelseafan
Just download Nortons Antivirus (which incidentally you can get from suprnova) and go through all the updates. Firstly you cannot get a virus from an avi / mpeg file, however, if you are unsure, then make sure your virus software is on and kept uptodate
Pharcyde
or for anti virus programs you could also download the free and well working AVG anti virus. Make sure you update it at least once a week, and you should be as safe as youll get. Just google it, and see what you will find.
khunsanuk
Hi, From what I understand the reason why the Torrent protocol is so popular is, is because you download little pieces from loads of different sources. It therefore becomes nearly impossible for a virus to be transmitted. All the sources need to be identical. Futhermore, I have never heard of a virus inside a movie clip. I'd say you'll be fine downloading them from suprnova.org. Sanuk!
Guest
quite correct KS......it is a technical impossiblility to get a virus from a bit torrent. That was one of it's main reasons that the guy wrote the program. So go ahead and d/l movies Fly ........ just make sure you go to supernova.org .... NOT supernova.com that is a ripoff site. NEVER pay or agree to pay for any software or services without checking it out with the knowledgable fellas here.
Guest
i got antivirus and firewall and all that. are you guys sure that this is safe? i don't exactly understand, (ehh, better: i don't know fuck all ), but is was somehow explained to me that while i download the other computer does also somehow download what might be availabe at my computer and has somehow that way full access to my computer if i don't really know how to protect it. i'm a bit paranoid... uk101
it is a technical impossiblility to get a virus from a bit torrent Not true - if the original file contains a virus the Bit Torrent will quite happily propagate it. You should also watch out for phony files Good overview [color:"red"] Edited: Weird - Can't seem to link to this - try typing http://www.mpeghelp.com/viruswarning.htm into your address bar and it should work[/color] Having said that, downloading movies from the sites already mentioned is certainly a lot safer than general surfing which seems to download all sorts of crap. Fly, there are some subscription film sites around but the problem I found is that they won't accept a subscription from a PC not connecting from Europe or the States, presumably for copyright reasons. Links has listing of some sites you might like to look at.
