sayjann
i rarely log-on while at work, prefer to get home and have a Beer and leisurely trawl through what has been added since i last visited(like i am doing now). but when i do a search for NP.com many links come up and many are blocked and i can see the reason why. some of the links feature words which are not acceptable to the programme set up by my bosses. i see words like fuck, cunt and sex and because of this it gets blocked. i have to carefully look around and find links which mention the word 'forum'. after a bit of playing around i can normally get on eventually. this happened after the Tsunami. a colleague of mine visits Phuket with his Wife every Year as they are great diving enthusiasts and go all over the Region to pursue their hobby. i wanted to show him the Pictures of what had happened in Patong which were posted here. after a lot of trial and error i finally logged on and he saw the lot. Chanchao
It's quite possible that KS has intentionally rated the site as adult. (and the discussion board is part of the same site/domain) Was the same years ago with the old Delphi site: Because this site was marked as 'adult' but the board owner, Delphi tried some pay-scheme that resulted in leaving Delphi for good. Other Thai nightlife boards happily operate on Delphi to this day; they just didn't self-regular in marking their site as adult.. If this is really the case then it would almost be a reason to put the board on a separate domain that's not marked adult... Remember it's not just companies who monitor internet usage. I'd much prefer if sites I visit are all marked just the same as the Tourism Authority site or the Lonely Planet board.. Cheers, Chanchao
khunsanuk
Hi, "It's quite possible that KS has intentionally rated the site as adult." Uh.. is that possible? "Was the same years ago with the old Delphi site:" Sorry, but totally different issues. On Delphi you were required to select adult / non-adult content when signing up. There is no such requirement when signing up for a domainname. Sanuk!
Chanchao
Oh. But aren't some adult sites self-regulating in that they add tags to their page that state they're adult? Anyway, from your answer I take it that even if that were true, you did no such thing with nanaplaza.com... So strange they rate it xxx then. Cheers, Chanchao
khunsanuk
Hi, "But aren't some adult sites self-regulating in that they add tags to their page that state they're adult?" No idea. "Anyway, from your answer I take it that even if that were true, you did no such thing with nanaplaza.com... So strange they rate it xxx then." Nope, not done anything like that. Sanuk! gummigut
Depends on the software the admin is using. Some of it is pretty sophisticated to the point of examining attachments (pictures) for fleshtones and able to sort out pornographic from non-porno relatively accurately. This was 5-years ago too, so it can only have gotten better. The interesting thing is that I was at my friend's company (well, he's managing it) and I needed a table of data. Told him to bring up yahoo and guess what, www.yahoo.com was banned for improper content. lol Mickey Mouse operations!!! <<burp>>
sky brow
Hi, My work also blocks sexually explicit ,gambling etc sites. Nanaplaza falls under these catagories. To me its overkill big time.If I punch in www.nanaplaza.com the site is blocked. If I google it and then select this site with "board "at the start of the url,I am straight in.I work shift work and late at night when all is quiet,it great to kick back and catch up on whats happening. keekwai
Might give the system administrators some interesting insights if you post from work and they figure out your member name. Guess it depends how many employees as to how curious they'll be.
