Flashermac
Sadam, To get the Thai price it REALLY helps to be Thai! My Mrs usually tells me to stay out of sight when she is bargaining for something. She told me that if the vendor sees me, he will not sell for anywhere near as low a price as she can get it for on her own.
..
As usual Frash, truer words have never been spoken. I have found that there are actually FOUR prices in Thailand, or more accurately, any third world country. a) the "stupid tourist" price the "tourist who has been around but does not speak the language" price c) the "expat" or "guy who goes there a lot and speaks some of the language and knows what is what" price d) the "locals" price If D is 1, then C=1.15-1.25, B=1.5-1.75 and A=3+. YMMV. Cheers, SD
Nervous_Dog
Flash - interesting, but maybe I'm a tough negotiater, but I always get a price below what my wife gets, always! Seems she feels to much for the vendor, where as my rule of thimb is the right price is somewhere between 1/2 to 2/3 the first quted price. Another point, IF they want to negotiate they will, IF they don;t, then they;ll come down 5%, then I walk and dont come back DOG
..
Damn, you should let Mrs Tiger negotiate for you then. "No mercy!" is her rule. Our farang friends call her "the assassin". Cheers, SD
