But maybe in her ID photo she has a bag over her head too

Part of my job used to be looking at copies of passports for all manner of folks from around the world, I remember pointing out to my colleagues that with the photos of the Arab women we were probably seeing more than we were allowed (especially me as a male infidel) and that in Saudi what we were looking at (a woman with no bag on her head) was probably considered porn.

I recall taking an extra copy of one Saudi womans passport, and when questioned why....... I said that as it was my first Muslim porn I was off to the toilet for a wank ::

Hi!

,

It was the Frenchies who tried to ban head scarfs in the schools.

They didn't try, they did. Obvious religeous symbols were banned in government schools. This also include very large and visible crosses. As an atheist I can only support such a move.

regards

I'm no aethist, but I believe religion belongs at home -- not at school. If parents want their children to get a religious education, they should send them to a private religious school.

p.s. I remember our periodic luncheon get togethers when I was an army instructor, where the sergeant major always gave the prayer before eating. He was an African-American and a Baptist, so he gave a Christian prayer instead of a non-denominational one. Always used to piss off the one Jewish member of the staff.

Great ... the sheriff's deputies run you over on the beach and the sharks chaw your leg off if you go swimming. :(

p.s. A friend's daughter was nearly killed one spring break in Panama City, when some drunk damnyankee student ran a red light and broadsided their car. The gals in the car survived, though they had serious injuries. But the guy that hit them was killed by the impact. Cops figured he must have been going over 70 mph when he ran that light.

It is the time of the Crusades during the Middle Ages - the world shaping 200-year collision between Europe and the East. A blacksmith named Balian has lost his family and nearly his faith. The religious wars raging in the far-off Holy Land seem remote to him, yet he is pulled into that immense drama. Amid the pageantry and intrigues of medieval Jerusalem he falls in love, grows into a leader, and ultimately uses all his courage and skill to defend the city against staggering odds. Destiny comes seeking Balian in the form of a great knight, Godfrey of Ibelin, a Crusader briefly home to France from fighting in the East. Revealing himself as Balian's father, Godfrey shows him the true meaning of knighthood and takes him on a journey across continents to the fabled Holy City. In Jerusalem at that moment--between the Second and Third Crusades--a fragile peace prevails, through the efforts of its enlightened Christian king, Baldwin IV, aided by his advisor Tiberias, and the military restraint of the legendary Muslim leader Saladin. But Baldwin's days are numbered, and strains of fanaticism, greed, and jealousy among the Crusaders threaten to shatter the truce. King Baldwin's vision of peace--a kingdom of heaven--is shared by a handful of knights, including Godfrey of Ibelin, who swear to uphold it with their lives and honor. As Godfrey passes his sword to his son, he also passes on that sacred oath: to protect the helpless, safeguard the peace, and work toward harmony between religions and cultures, so that a kingdom of heaven can flourish on earth. Balian takes the sword and steps into history.

Thats's over 800 years ago and IMO nothing has really changed.

This is all reminiscent of a couple of years ago when a member of al-qaeda was caught before he could bomb NEP. I was actually there the night he was planning on bombing it.

It will be a matter of time before the violence spreads to BKK. Anything for shock value. It does not matter how many innocent people die.

Considering how much Thaksin wants the tourist dollar to keep coming to LOS just imagine the hammer that will be laid down on the south if and when an attack takes place. They think his government is oppressing them now...
