Palatkik
I haven't been out of the tropics for 25 years, but need to visit northern China (near Inner Mongolia) soon! Anyone know where to shop for suitable cold weather clothing in BKK?
khwaimaisabai
hi palatkik, I have seen overcoats in the window of one of the tailor shops on suk near Soi 8. What else they have - no idea. Khwai
dddave
I just saw a large display of decent looking cold weather coats at one of the clothing kiosks at MBK in the clothing section; I think 3rd floor, but could have been 4th. On the far end, away from the BTS.
bust
If your after copies there a shop in the Indra Center that sell Columbia and I think some Helly Hansen. They are copies but pretty good. I've got a genuine Titanium jacket and it was hard to tell the difference. I also think although not 100% sure there may be a Khatmandu shop in Central World Plaza. Go to MBK, ground floor, a LOOONG way up the back where you get rows of little stalls/shops Go to furtherest right hand side, 50 metres from end of MBK, is a shop selling a lot of cold weather shit DOG
Palatkik
Appreciate all the ideas guys, I'll check them out. A mate of mine mentioned buying some gear in Siam Discovery North Face shop for his last sub zero trip to Kazahkistan, but sounded pricey.

Sometimes get them confused. They're all the same same after a while. Happy shopping.
Old Hippie
Across from Emporium, there is a camping store that MIGHT have some parkas. Also, in the World Trade Center, forget exactly where, there was a shop that sold them, saw some at Pratunam as well. Also, in Ploenchit Center, one of the upper flors, on the right From Sukhumvit facine towards the back, there was a shop selling Parkas and ski stuff NOT CHEAP! I think that one is gone now... OCgringo
Would it be cheaper to buy in China ? Maybe just buy one parka in BKK and the rest in China OC
Palatkik
Just for the record, I ended up buying stuff in Paragon! Not my favorite shopping mall, but they had quite a choice of quality brand name imported gear - mostly made in China! Spent a fortune but I don't like the cold!
