kamui
We will have the ratio of 2:1 (men:woman) in East Germany for the younger generation in a few years, since many younger women are leaving to West Germany for jobs (no jobs in the east). But on the other hand, this means that will get better in my area. ::

dean
I guess that the Chinese policy of one child, with most choosing boys, hasn't affected a population of over 2 billion that much.
Prosal
China is among the 10 countries with the worst ratios, with 93 (as India). Thailand has a ratio of 100, and most other countries between 97 and 104.

May be that those numbers represent "eligible" women to "elgible" men...rather than the total population. I'd guess that in some of those countries men may have several wives (god help them). This would reduce the number of "elgible" women. HH
bust
There was a village in Aceh that was hit biy the Tsunami. Most of the men were at work when it hit either on higher ground farming or out to sea fishing. 20,000 survived and out of that only 28 were woman. Do your sums on that.
