teddy
Actually, now I know. The watch that sells for $47,000 is the same as this one but it is made of platinum, they are inflating the price of this one to make it look like a good deal. You'd have to have more money than sense to spend $50,000 on a watch. What am I saying! You do have more money than sense Teddy.

The average profit mark up of a "designer watch" in the UK is 2.5, i.e. a watch selling in a retail environment for 2500 would cost the retailer around 1000, if the particular model of the watch was being discontinued it could cost around 750 and if it was on clearance the price could drop to 500 or less but the retailer would be expected to buy in bulk quantities, and sometimes the watches come with restrictions on their disposal. The same figures also apply to many "designer" items including jewellery, sunglasses, accessories and clothing. Rolex in particular, are never discounted by these amounts and some brands like Chanel, never supply goods at clearance prices, they would rather destroy them to maintain the brand exclusivity.
