Nice room anywhere in Bangkok for 1000 baht?

I would recommend Town Lodge, a very good hotel and I stayed there during my last 2 trips, May & June.

Clean rooms and the beds are really big and nice. The service is good and the staff friendly. Earlier I used to stay around lower Suk., but I liked the area around Town Lodge. Got it booked through thaihotesldiscount.

Cheers

Thanks for your reply.

On your website I see only 2 types of room, standard and jacuzzi but another site I see an intermediate Deluxe room. Isnt it possible to book a deluxe room?

Sorry guys to reply here but I didnt find how to send a pm (yet) :o

I don't know for sure, but the only difference I recall between standard and deluxe rooms at the TL is that the deluxe had a bathtub as well as a shower and might have been slightly larger. Keep in mind the TL is a very small hotel, I think 20 some rooms total. Most are standard, a few jacuzzi suites and a few deluxe rooms.

It's been four months since I stayed there, so things could have changed. But I wouldn't worry too much about the difference between standard and deluxe unless you really need a bathtub.

I've always just telephoned the Hotel and made my own reservation. I have paid 1200Bt/night (std room) on each of my 7 stays there, so it looks like I'm getting V.I.P. rates...i.e. +120 Bt per day...lol...

I'll take it up with them in a couple of weeks when I'm back. Shit, I'm being "ripped" for a beer a day....absolutely outrageous....55555

Have no intention of changing venue though. SMS'd my regular yesterday, asking if she was happy to stay there again or change to Davis or Majestic Grande or ???

Response.....Same Hotel fine...I like it....everybody very friendly and very clean & comfortable....(Think she realises that what we save in Hotel bills will go towards increasing her jewellry collection...lol..)

I agree, very friendly....(with the exception of that "English" chappie in Toxic....but even he comes round after a few Heinies and Vodka Tonics..555555....C U soon old matey !!)

Oh well a bathtub is still nice to have and the price difference seems to be really minimal so I would have chose the deluxe if possible...if not I will go for a standard.

The next step for me is to find a nice hotel in Phuket but I will open a new thread for it ;)

DS, hotels have many different rate structures. If you just ring them up you are paying "walk in" rates which are 100% of the room rate. Typically agents get rates around 70-80% which they then markup slightly for the end customer. There are then wholesale rates which are even lower for very large customers who normally sell directly to agents but sometimes to customers as well. I believe they are normally contractually obligated to not sell rooms below the 100% rate or all the agents would get pissed off so it doesn't matter how much you complain to them :)
