Old Hippie
Steve, Any school in your area should be a good starting ground, and plenty of people to practice with, though most don't speak proper Spanish. But No te preocupes...! (Mai pen rai, or as you said in Philly "Fug-ed-a-bout-et!"
Old Hippie
I try to learn alternate words, for the ones I have trouble prouncing...like I don't use "Maa" for dog. I was recently trying to explain to a Thai guy that a girl in our Muay Thai class was Korean, I used the wrong pronounciation, and said she was a whore...or close to it...so I had to go learn a new word for whore, so as not to mis-introduce bar girls as Koreans... Berlitz blows...try Rossetta stone, or something heavy duty...see what the class you are taking recomends, many use tapes to reenforce the class drills/work...Then start using it as often as you can...and also maybe just prcatice talking to yourself...listen to Spanish Radio and T.v. as well, just to hear it spoken... That is more less how I first learned Spanish...by aquisition, later in a class room...
