Falang Posted August 19, 2007 Report Share Posted August 19, 2007 The string is call a sai sin (not sure about the spelling) and it is given to you by monk or other people blessing you. Some are made in cotton and will fall a few weeks or month after but I have two on my wrist that were given to me by monks and they are bigger and in some kind of nylon and they will not fall at all. I have a other one that you wear on the neck, it came from a wat and was given to me by a old Thai women who said to me to wear it for good luck and to protect me. That one when I wear it in Thailand some Thai people will stop me to look at it even at the airport. The one you wear on your neck I beleve is call a sai sek.
