Shibuya
Whilst i have been here i have spent roughly 45,000 baht on IT training courses and exams. Am i able to claim back the 7% VAT at the airport, when i leave? I have a full VAT receipt from the training centre. cheers
The_Munchmaster
If it's anything like the UK, then you fill in a VAT refund form which you get from the retailer.
..
Interesting question. I am sure that you need to show the items purchased to the customs guy when leaving (been there, done that). How does one do that with a service? Leads me to think this is not possible. This site and this official page seem to confirm that only durable goods qualify for the refund. Regardless, Munchie is correct in you do need the official government VAT receipt. Any ol' receipt will not work. Cheers, SD

cavanami
Our buddies, the Thai gov, takes an extra 10% or so from the VAT that they give back to you at the airport...wankers!!! Made my VAT refund barely worth the while.
