chuckwoww
I'd say ordinary Russians were happy to see Putin put the oligarchs in their place. Russia was being sold out from under them.
Lusty
So would you if all you could buy in your supermarket was raw fish and potatoes!
spirit_of_town_hall
I agree, where I live the area is flooded with them. I find them rude, tight fisted and violent. They couldnt get their own countries in order and they come to pollute the good decent countries of western europe . My countries politicians love them as they are cheap labour so it looks like we are stuck with the parasites. STH
Old Hippie
"...Another weird thing about them is that they love spending time in supermarkets. What's with that? Come all the way to Thailand to look around some supermarkets? One Russian girl I saw in Big C on Sukhumvit ask the taxi driver to take her to Big C on Second Road. Supermarket tourism..." Adopted mother is from that general neck of the woods, her relatives came here maybe 20+ years back. They loved supermarkets as they had none in the USSR. They kept insisting this was "...where high party official and retired military commander (adopted dad was retired) shop, where does common man shop...?" They were amazed that fresh fruit was available in the middle of winter and tons of fresh meats etc, and no line to get in. Makes you think at how lucky we have it. Maybe the same type of interest now a days?
wonderlust
I think there are plenty of supermarkets in Russia nowadays. The Russians just want to go somewhere where they can shout at people in Russian and not be completely ignored. At least at Tesco Lotus they can point at stuff before shouting. Old Hippie
I do think or so it seems anyway, that there is an over all deterioration/lack of manners these days. Almost regardless of where the people come from. All to often, we dismiss it as "their culture" while forgetting proper manners and treatment. Faustian
Agree fully...I'm embarrassed by the english yobs abroad...arrogant and rude more often than not. Not encountered many Russians except at airports. I have found them to stand out a little from the crowd, due to their overbearing nature.

YimSiam
I'd say ordinary Russians were happy to see Putin put the oligarchs in their place. Russia was being sold out from under them. Claims bouncing around now are that Putin's personal fortune is around $US 40 billion... so something's still being sold!
