Flashermac
Rudd supposedly is willing to spend billions to create a republic. Seems like that money could be spent on something more essential. In the US there has long been a movement to force the country to go metric ONLY. (Metric has had equal status with imperial since the 1930s.) No real reason to spend billions converting everything to metric. It's just a minority of nutters who insist we should - because other countries use metric. Well, most other countries don't speak English either. So? I'm still puzzled over why Australia spent a fortune going metric. I was there right after the change, and it was confusing. Speed limit signs were metric, but car speedometers were still in miles!
