sayjann
a few threads on the Board about various wars and conflicts going on around the World at the moment. thankfully i have never been involved in any conflict. but i was in the Royal Marines but had to leave just before the Falklands. but what images of war do you really remember?. 2 for me which show the futility of war. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:TrangBang.jpg http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nguyen_Van_Lem

There was a book by a journo who looked up the girl in he photo and called the book I think "The girl in the photo" Seems to have part of many peoples most remembered photo. sayjann
the picture of the Girl has always made me cry. i assume she was an innocent, but i don't know for sure. i'm too young to remember Vietnam but the look of pain and anguish on her face is unforgettable. i have always been glad she started a new life as she got older. to me it is still one of the iconic photos of the 20th Century. Mr.Munchmaster. yes it was convienient that i left the UK Forces before the Falklands. yes it was convienient that after 5 Months in Hospital i never lost my leg due to the superb care of the medics. yes it was convienient that i had a career change which results me in helping people who are not so well off as me in a Medical way. you don't know me and have made no wish to get to know me. so don't made flippant remarks about someone who you know fuck all about. i suppose you would have been laughing at me for having one leg and not knowing the full story?. would like to hear your stories of joining the Forces in an attempt to protect these shores. but i guess you were too chicken to join up???????????? cavanami
It's the photos that you don't see, the ones unofficially taken. "Body counts", fire fights, etc. My photos have long ago faded and are gone but the memories are still there.
