Another Night At The Office

Hi,

"I’m all for a good party but is this kind of behavior not looked upon unfavorably by some? I mean I can only picture this as I have yet to see it, but aren’t the girls reduced to scrambling around to grab money off the deck in a demeaning way? Also isn’t there a thing about throwing down images of the King found on the face of these notes?"

I agree that this is rather demeaning.

I was once in Rainbow 2 where 2 guys started throwing money around (literaly). The girls did grab the money, but listening to some of the comments it certainly did *not* make the guys any popular. Rather the opposite I would say.

As for stepping on money, NOT a good idea. Thais view this as very impolite.

Throwing small bills onto the stage to watch the girls scramble for them is an extremely low-class move. Some guys may just be naive (or a little "slow") and just think it's in good fun, but I think most people who do this just love the power trip.

However, the act of throwing the bills does not demean the girls. They demean themselves by flailing about for it.

I know harm is not intended, but it also seems demeaning to me also. Last year at Angkor Wat near Siem Reap in Cambodia, Thai tourists almost caused a riot when they threw some baht into a crowd of children, which predictably resulted in a mad scramble for the currency.

The Thai tourists required a police escort to get out of town safely as the local Cambodian moto dops and citizens interpreted this as the tourists treating the Khmer children like zoo animals at feeding time.

I would rather discretely slip a baht note into a well-deserving Thai lady than create a spectacle.

Just how do you manage to accomplish this task discreetly? Does it require a special applicator?

Good. Then next time you speak to him tell him I do not appreciate his sneaky advertisements on this board. If he has an event planned, just mention it.

Sorry, but I am usually rather sceptical when I read such statements. It just does not seem viable. Start work at the office at 8:30, which means getting up latest at 7am. Finish work at 17:30, go directly to the bar. Leave the bar at 2:30, get home at 3:30, in bed by 4am. Sleep for 3 hours and repeat.

I'm sorry, but nobody can handle a schedule like that.

I agree that the Grand Opening at The Office could have been presented better on this board. But, wat makes you so sure it was the manager who posted the sneaky advertisement? The manager I am referring to is Thai, cannot read or write English as far as I know, and would be a very unlikely candidate to post on this board. The owner is another story...

On the day jobs of the ladies working there, well, here we go shooting the messenger again. True, the bar does open at 2pm, but like gogo bars, not all the ladies report as soon as the place opens. I would suspect those without day jobs are the early birds. I suggest you pay The Office a visit yourself and have a chat with the manager and a few of the ladies to clarify this issue. wink.gif" border="0

As to the throwing of the bills from the balcony at Dollhouse, I guess you had to be there. It seemed like everyone present thought it was done in the spirit of sanuk. Yes, I agree that it could be perceived as demeaning and maybe even politically incorrect. However, as it was the owners of the establishment who did this, I suppose it is a rather regular happening during the evening. That still doesn't make it any better for those of you who don't like it though, does it?

Remember when Lollipop in NEP was Mermaids and they used to have a big tank of water? Guys would throw coins in there and the 'mermaids' would dive in for them.

How do you feel about that? Any different that the incident at the Dollhouse Cowboy I mentioned?

No clue who it was, but I certainly expect it was someone related to the bar.

"here we go shooting the messenger again"

If that is how you read my post, then I am sorry. It was not meant that way.

Is this an invitation? smile.gif" border="0

No problem. We can discuss further at lunch Friday while we ogle the ladies. BTW my last comment/question on Mermaids was meant for the group in general, not just you, but thanks for your response.

See you Friday, Paladin. wink.gif" border="0

Throwing money and have the girls scramble or compete for it is in bad taste, even if it is done by the managers and is a regular occurence. But again, I don't feel too bad for the girls who choose to participate in this frenzy, it's their choice. I don't have a clue as to how the average Thai would perceive this; maybe they don't have an issue with it and if they don't then I wouldn't judge them on their home turf.

I don't have a problem with the girls diving for coins. That would seem to be just part of the show and doing their regular jobs. Not much different than offering tips to stage dancers, in my mind.
