Romantic Pattaya Hotel?

Hi Guys,

Heading up to BKK soon on business with Mrs Sid. Usual story. I work and she goes shopping and catches up on all the family gossip.

We thought we might try to catch a few days alone in Pattaya. Only stayed there once, at the Rabbit Resort. Was quite nice but pricey. On reading other posts here, it seems that it is in the gay section of Jomtien Beach too :(

I have read through loads of posts here, but without much luck. Excuse me being picky, but what I am looking for is:

Guest Unfriendly. Or at least not too friendly :smirk: It's not that romantic sharing the place with all you bastards with your GF of the day who is 30 years younger than you. Main reason being I will get jealous of course! Certainly don't want the nana Hotel of Pattaya!

Family Unfriendly. If possible. Nothing worse than screaming kids running up and down the corridors, and little Johnny from Hicksville USA complaining over breakfast that the Cornflakes don't taste the same as those back home. Not that I hate kids, I have 4. But I don't take them on a Romantic getaway.

Close to the Beach. Short walk.

Close to nice eating places. Seafood BBQ and that kind of stuff.

Budget? Not sure. 2,500 - 3,000+ Maybe more for a really nice place. i.e. Beachside bungalows !

Any ideas most appreciated.

Sid,

just a thought....Why Pattaya????

Why not stay in the taxi for an extra bit and go down to Koh Samed

There's some nice resorts right on the beach and it's not that much further

Much better option for what you're looking for IMHO

Cheers DS

DS. Good idea. Never thought of it. Guess I just thought Pattaya was close. But Koh Samed is not much further, right?

Thanks.

Sugar Hut!

Royal Cliff is also guaranteed guestunfriendly!

the Rabbit is not in the middle of the gay scene as well!

if not Pattaya, why not Bang Saen, the Tide. just 30 minutes from Suvannaphum. and NO farangs with BG's at all!

Why not Koh chang?

If you really want a quiet, romantic exit not full of whoremongers and thus BG.

Amari resort was really great, quiet and the best service I ever had in LOS.

The trip in itself is the best part.

Head to the airport -> take a BKK airways flight

(the 3 times I went the flight was 2/3 empty)

The Trat airport is really nice, small but a nice feel.

Then the ferry travel which is a nice change of pace.

When you arrive on the island you feel a bit out of time.

When at your resort, rent a scooter/motorbike, this is great.

A few tourists but far from being the hordes you meet anywhere else.

Almost no whoremongers and just a few bars on whitesand beach.

Plenty of small places where to eat at whitesand.

Great for a few days of romance.

(only Lamu was so great and with this "out of time" feel)

yeah Koh Chang is a nice area to go as a couple! if you go by car, around 3 hours from Bangkok to the ferry port 20-30 minutes by ferry, then a short ride to the final destination.

also recommendable Cliff Beach resort and Seaview resort on Khai Bae beach

Hi Sid,

Another alternative is Ko Sichang, which is an Island off Sri Racha.

I have been there a few times and prefer it to Samed.

The problem that I have with Samed is the beaches are either too secluded (Ao Wai beach) or full of jet skis (Hat Sai Kaew).

Ko Sichang seems to offer something in-between, it is not too secluded and and geared up to relieving people of their tourist dollars (at the moment).

Also the beaches are not full of vendors or jet skis.

One of the local farangs there (a restaurant owner) has a site about the island at http://www.ko-sichang.com, which has a lot of information about the island and things to do/see there.

There is also a very helpful accommodation listing on one of the web pages.

Hope this helps.

Best regards,

Tiger.
