Mentors
Democrat: New cabinet uglier than Samak's (BangkokPost.com) - The Democrat party criticised Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat for slowly setting up his cabinet, adding that his selected ministers could appear â??uglierâ? than those under the Samak Sundaravej administration. Democrat assistant secretary-general Thepthai Senpong called on Mr Somchai to quickly form the cabinet because the more time it takes, more lobbying and negotiations would occur. In the end, Mr Somchaiâ??s cabinet would be â??uglierâ? than the previous one administered by Mr Samak, the Democrat member said. He believed the reason the cabinet was not formed quickly because the individuals who the premier approached rejected the offer. He said they may see that the current governmentâ??s term may not be long, since the ruling People Power party (PPP) could be dissolved. The government also had to wait for the direct line from an influential figure in London, Mr Thepthai added. The assistant secretary-general, however, said he felt for the prime minister for trying to form a worthy cabinet out of what he had. He said the public would feel confused with the present government if the new cabinet has not been royally approved by Tuesday. http://www.bangkokpost.com/breaking_news/breakingnews.php?id=130869
