Mekong
Why Midnight? On all occasions when the bars are closed in Thailand they still stay open until the same time the night before, why would NYE be any differant?

waerth
No booze on NYE??? that would not be nice...what happens to the champagne toasts? You get to drink your Champagne in normal glasses so you can claim it is Sprite when the boys in brown show up. Same like the beer in Tea Cups so it looks like your drinking tea etc etc etc We have been through this already a couple of times in the past few years. Barowners are inventive ... mainsail
Seems to me the Belgian story would increase tourism not decrease it.
Gadfly
Highly dubious. I cannot believe that 2/3 of Thai would vote for alcohol ban during Songkran. And is one of the reaons that PAD wants to do away with direct elections. They don't provide the "right" results. If self-annointed "elites" in Bangkok get to make the decisions, you will see more of this sort of nonsense.
