gummigut
Yooz ain't gonna luv dis. It's WORSE!!! Seriously. Really. It is much worse. You can get a job as an English Teacher. To get a job as a Dive instructor you have to win the lottery!!! When you do get a job. It don't pay. <<burp>> [ January 06, 2002: Message edited by: gummigut ]

racha
Hi Its a low paying job with the hardest working instructors in the bigger diving centres making around 50,000 baht per month, Some freelancers can make more ,but most are getting much less than that, though the minimum wage should officially be no less 35,000 baht. A problem this last year with most of the biggest and best dive spots around the world having some sort of trouble, and also the average tourist not wanting to travel to places such as the Philippines,Indonesia, the Red Sea , the Caribbean , USA etc, there is an even more abundance of diving instructors than normal looking for or wanting to come and work in Thailand. Thailand is currently getting lots more diver tourists coming here in the last months because of these reasons as well. So anyway for the typical diving instructor to make money is not why they are doing it, for most its a lifestyle for a certain period in there lives. Also my own thoughts are you have to be a good teacher as well as have patience to be a good diving instructor, much the same as an english teacher also.
