DirDrill
Stay away from foods high in purines, the purines lead to high uric acid levels that lead to gout. This includes shrimp, peanuts, mushrooms and broccoli. Many ingredients of Thai food.
rookie
I've a farang friend, who runs a school in Cambodia, and is staying at my condo while taking care of some business here. He suffers from gout as well as being significantly overweight. He painfully limps around and I think he is somewhat of a masochist! Gout cannot be remedied with drugs, BUT it can with a proper diet! He's a big beer lover, yet refuses to stop (or moderate) drinking it. Beer is a MAJOR contributor of purines which can cause gout, as are organ meats, such as liver, kidney, etc. He doesn't eat such meats, but the beer adds to his problem. I wonder if 'SkirtLifter' is both overweight and loves beer...?
robaus
Try this gout diet which lists food low and high in purines.
robaus
>>He's a big beer lover, yet refuses to stop (or moderate) drinking it. ... if your mate has problems giving up the booze, this may inspire him to moderate Lips that touch liquor... unit731
Real cherry juice. My non-medical opinion is diet. See a clinical dietician. I take allopurinol but for kidney stones. I don't have gout. MD also advised pyridoxal phosphate and that threw me for a loop as I didn't have a clue what that was. I take both every day - or at least when I can remember which day is which. My MD states 8 glasses of water per day. I guess that may not be such a big deal if living in a hot climate. But up here in cold snow country - not as easy.
