I guess the earthquake Mexico experienced was caused by Obama also. :hmmm:

According to Olbermann' date=' GWB caused that ! :neener:

Obama has actually displayed some polical smarts by not filling the number one positions of the Centers For Disease Control, Food and Drug Administration, Surgeon General's Office, and Dept. of Health and Human Services in his first 100 days. This way, no one can blame one of his appointees for shit that hits the fan. [b']Looks like Napolitano will have to take the hit if it does.[/b] ;)

Comnservates hate Napolitano but many of her ideas she had as govenor seemed to be very conservative in nature. An example is: the immigration issue is a Federal issue not a State issue.

Wrong. It's a Federal RESPONSIBILITY. One that has been ducked. Therefore, it has become a great issue for many states.

Couldn't resist a dig, HH? Remember back a couple months ago when Rove, Collins and other GOPers were ridiculing funding for CDC and pandemic flu preparedness. Somehow they couldn't see a connection between a pandemic flu outbreak and the economy. Check out today's WSJ and you'll see plenty.

I don't think Rove and the others are that dumb. He's a smart political player who picked what looked like an easy target. Oopsie...

HT...for good reason the CDC "stimulus" proposal was criticized. In was mixed in with several billion dollars of crap that should be in the annual budget. The demoncrats have successfully snookered their continuents into believing that everything is a crisis and can be solved with money that isn't there. The economic "crisis" has been hijacked to "justify" un-godly sums of dollars being wrenched from the taxpayers . It is highly unlikely that CDC money would have saved any jobs nor created more than a handful in relative terms.

BTW--from three years ago...May, 2006

"The Bush administration urged the Congress to earmark $7 billion for national and international pandemic preparedness plans, but the lawmakers so far have approved just over half that amount. Townsend said the administration will continue to press Congress for increased spending in the current budget cycle and in years to come. "

I guess you didn't read my post. Napolitano, when govenor, made it clear immigration was a Federal responsibility, not a State responsibility. The lawlessness along the border is caused by drug and human traffickers, both rest squarely with the Federal Government. The problem with the Federal Government is they don't want to spend the money in Arizona to clean up the problem. If they did, other States would complain they are receiving less money.

Travellers might need health clearance

Thai Airways International (THAI) says passengers with flu symptoms should bring their medical records with them to the airport, or they might not be allowed to board the aircraft, because of the global swine flu alert.

The airline's Crisis Management Operation Centre director, Surapol Isarangkul Na Ayutthaya, said on Wednesday that Thai Airways had no plans to change its flight schedules and no passengers had cancelled because of the flu scare.

However, intending passengers might not be allowed to board if they showed flu-like symptoms and could not provide proof of good health.

The airline had informed its cabin crews of the severity of swine flu and ways to protect themselves from infection.

Mr Surapol believed cabin crews would have some immunity because they received annual influenza vaccinations.

Suvarnabhumi airport director Serirat Prasutanont said more staff had been assigned to help passengers, as some areas could be crowded because of the use of thermal scanners by health officials.

Not necessarily true.

Doesn't help

From the CDC website......

Is there a vaccine for swine flu?

Vaccines are available to be given to pigs to prevent swine influenza. There is no vaccine to protect humans from swine flu. The seasonal influenza vaccine will likely help provide partial protection against swine H3N2, but not swine H1N1 viruses.
