Yes really

Or how to make billions and be turfed out on your ear.

Personalized advice for aspiring megalomaniacs.

Cambodia has appointed former Thai prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra as economic adviser to premier Hun Sen and his administration, a Cambodian government statement said on Wednesday.

Cambodia has appointed former Thai prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra, seen here in 2008, as economic adviser to premier Hun Sen and his administration.

The statement, read out on state television, said Thaksin would serve "as personal adviser to Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen and the adviser to the Cambodian government in charge of economy".

The appointment, by royal decree, came almost two weeks after Hun Sen riled Thailand by offering safe haven to Thaksin, who was ousted in a coup in 2006 and is living abroad to avoid corruption charges.

Cheers

You couldn't make this shit up!

Wow! It seems that Hun Sen is a gambler. His gamble will pay off very well in case Mr. T. become prime minister in LOS again (or a major player in a future government).

But of course it will make the relationship between LOS and Cambo much more difficult now and it might become worse in case Mr. T. wont regain power.

You got to hand it to Thaksin, the guy has balls. Aligning himself with a hated neighbour, run by a total psycho. It's genius.

:rotl::rotl::rotl::rotl::rotl::rotl::rotl::rotl::rotl::rotl:

The Muslim south move displayed his desperation...

Now, this is insane, so what's next for the "I want power at all costs" man....

The plot thickens. He does seem to be maneuvering himself into some sort of position in readiness for something....I wonder what.....?

Wasn't he made a financial advisor to Nicaragua? Will they fire him now he's working for someone else?

tit for tat, Cambodia and Thailand have now both withdrawn their ambassadors from each other's country.

Thaksin certainly is an opportunist. But then the current government set themselves up for something like this by turning the temple dispute (where Thailand lost the court battle in the 60s and never bother appealing) into a minor militairy battle. How could they not see how this how this would be turned against them?

Mr. T is certainly also crafty - sort of a Thai version of Nixon, only worse. The powers that be here are really blinkered if they don't realize how he is playing them. Amazing.

But there is an answer to Thailand's woes and image problems - it's discussed in other thread here. Ban more websites, stricter controls on the local press and aggressive use of criminal defamation laws and the Cyber Crime Act. Although these measures will only add credibility to Thaksin's totally false claim that he is a victim here, expect to see more.

I sometimes wonder if the officials who come up with this nonsense are actually in the employ of Mr. T and playing a double game. They can't seriously believe this nonsense does Thailand any favors.
