soongmak
I'm flying in tomorrow and it seems that Asoke may still be blocked. What is the best way to get to my hotel on sukhumvit soi 22. Take a taxi to Ekkamai, and then take the skytrain? Or take the taxi on to the highway, get off at lower sukh, and get on the skytrain at Ploenchit, or alternatively, try to reach the soi going from Rama IV. What would you do? Pom Michael
Asoke was never blocked today - actually can say that I did not see a single Red Shirt person all day today at Asoke/Sukhumvit intersection. Traffic this morning was heavy in that area (from Sukhumvit outbound) - but by lunch and now (16:00) it is completely free flowing. Cheers! soongmak
Good to know - Thanks. The Bangkok Post gave me different news, that is why I asked.
cavanami
The Red Shirts were in mass at the Emporium.Soi 22 area. For me, I would take a taxi to On Nut (have the taxi take Soi On Nut) and get the BTS from there to the Emporium, a short walk to Soi 22. Taxi, about 200 B depen.ding on the time of day/night
soongmak
Made it to the hotel under 30 minutes. I suspect the meter was rigged. No way it is 39 km. and 270 baht excluding toll and mark up fee to sukhumvit soi 22 from the airport.
Nervous God
Actaully that;s pretty close, I assume 270 doesn;t include the 50 baht surcharge. If it does that's correct fare.
waerth
Sounds pretty correct to me as well ..... I live on Ratchada and it is about 200-220 baht from my place to the airport. You are a bit further away so seems right! W
soongmak
Because of your replies I thought it was better to check it on Google Maps. The actual distance is 29 km. instead of the 39+ km I got on the meter. So that is a speedup of more than 30%. That meter was rigged. It probably set me back no more than 50-70 baht, and that is no biggie. The feeling that you are getting ripped off just fresh off the plane while you're in the taxi is annoying though. shygye
Did you notice if the meter was at 0 when you got into the taxi?
ozpharlap
I have caught the taxi mak mak times from the airport to the Lad Phrao/Suttisarn area, the fare is usually about 230 baht (not including any 50 baht airport surcharge).
