Mekong
Police spokesman Pol Lt Gen Pongsathat Pongcharoen revealed that the police forensic department would perform autopsies on 10 civilian dead this afternoon. Relatives and two UDD representatives will be allowed to witness the autopsies. Link IMHO this is Critical, the truth needs to be told. From unsubstantiated reports it appears that most injuries and deaths are consistent with Grenade and Bomb injuries as opposed to Gunshot and apart from the Japanese photographer who was killed the only other gunshot victim I have read about was a soldier. I await the results with anticipation.

Mekong
BT, The article even for BKK Post English staes "ALLOWED TO WITNESS" not have to attend PM's Office is offering full transparency so that autopsy results cannot be brought into question at a later date. As I intimated in previous post, I suspect a large percentage of the unfortunate victims fell to "Friendly Fire" rather than from direct conflict with government forces. I am pretty sure that PM's Office are well aware of probable cause of death based on coursery observations by the Coroners, its quite obvious that death by head blown off is a bomb of some sorts, whilst a bullet hole in the body is indicative to Gunshot. Mekong
Govt: No live rounds fired at reds Security forces did not fire live rounds at red-shirt protesters during the operation to clear the red-shirt rally base, government spokesman Panithan Wattanayakorn said on Sunday morning. "There were no live rounds fired at protesters," Mr Panithan said on national television. "Weapons were used only in self-defence and to fire into the air," he said. He said initial investigations had shown that grenades, including M67 fragmentation grenades and grenades fired from M79 grenade launchers, as well as live ammunition were used in the clashes, but they are not standard military equipment, and some of the tear-gas used was different to that the military has. The government is ready to enter into the justice process and ready to have a committee set up to conduct autopsies on the dead. Soldiers will return to their barracks to rest, he said. SpiceMan
Whether they fear the autopsies or not could depend on who they appoint to perform them. If they appoint anybody other than Dr Pornthip Rojasunand it will give reasonable grounds for suspicion.

If you can't trust her expertise, who can you trust.

Mekong
Spiceman, Good Call on Dr Pornthip, a well respected pathologesr with no obvious political associations. Flash, Your report does not surprise me, autopsy results will be rather interesting but I reserve judgement until they are made official.
