SpiceMan
Phil, I edited my post on the airport shutdown as it was a heat of the moment thing, which I regretted.

shygye
... sounds like a call for a Chinese solution. Remove all journos; silence TV and papers; shutdown cell network and internet; unleash the Chinese ammo.

Damen
Seems Weng Tojirakarn is okay with the new date. For some reason I don't think the others UDD leaders will be as flexible. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/asia/article7115198.ece

shygye
4000 died over several years! Thus that is the norm. Do the killings in the DRC get front page coverage? The killings in the PI? The killings in India (Maoists)? The killings in South Africa? The killings in Brazil?
Flashermac
Pictures of bombings and victims appear almost daily in the Thai papers, sometimes in the Post and Nation too. Odd that the international press doesn't think it is worth reporting - even when women and children are killed, victims beheaded etc. Sort of like it doesn't really matter because it's not in Bangkok or Chiang Mai. shygye
Are there any Western firms in that region? Any Western expats? That should answer your question.
