Flashermac
Just as American football players have tried football (soccer) and gave it up because they couldn't stand the pace. Think of running a marathon.

TroyinEwa/Perv
Here's a few hits that even with pads these men didn't walk away from. Flashermac
Some of the pros were known for deliberately trying to injure the other teams top players. Don't think that happens in soccer or rugby - or would be tolerated.

I don't think there's really any serious question about what is the most brutal contact sport on earth is... Exactly. Aussie nancy boys can whinge all they want (well, the athletes don't because they know better...it's their fans who've never played both who make asses of themselves), but never make it to the big money in the US. That's always your answer: follow the money. The Oz boys lose!
Flashermac
Rugby and American football have a common origin. But I'm talking about deliberately breaking arms, legs, necks ... leaving players lifetime cripples. Link
USVirgin
I don't think any other sport has players colliding at the velocity they do in American Football especially, as mentioned in your link, on special teams plays. To call them nancies for wearing helmets and pads is a joke, without them you'd have to recruit the best part of a new team every week. I guess this is the most infamous hit. Left Darryl Stingley paralyzed. nPlNhnT84Kc
