Coss Posted January 2, 2012 Report Share Posted January 2, 2012 My 2 baht's worth - enough Beer Lao will give me a hangover, say 10 or more big bottles. Lesser amounts - no hangover. My hangovers usually consist of too many cigarettes and too much ethanol, i am amongst the crew that think Beer Lao itself, can do no harm. The summation about esters and formaldehyde is pretty much correct, ketones and all sorts of nasties can really hurt your brain. My knowledge of this is gained from having the chemistry of wine explained to me. In particular you can put a good wine in a plastic lined cask and plastic, even the food grade stuff, will leach all sorts of chemicals into the wine - ergo, hangover.
