$100 For A Pack Of Cigarettes?

I would support a obesity tax; let's say everybody with a BMI >30 pays 10% higher income tax per point on the BMI.

for example

BMI: 35: 50% higher income tax

BMI: 40: double income tax

as I pay a lot of tax for smoking, driving my car, drinking my booze etc. , the obese should also be charged

and that is a good incentive to loose some weight.

now how much more tax you guys have to pay; my BMI is 26

would i be exempt?.

i have no idea of my BMI or how to find what it is.

but i gather it's something to do with body weight and height?

i'm 5' 10" and weigh around 9 and a half stone.....is my BMI good?.

BMI is a very inaccurate indicator of fitness or obesity. Eg if a lad is 100kg and fat it would work, if he is 100kgs and full of muscle, since his height and weight is the only factor taken into consideration, he will still be classified as obese if he is the same height as the fat guy. Fat percentage would be a better indicator, since muscle is heavier than fat. Healthy fitness fanatics would be penalised severely.

Good idea though, as obesity causes a lot of health problems. Some say more than cigarettes.
