Hi,

I've noticed this quite a few times, buy a bag of candy and when you open it every piece of candy is individually wrapped in its own plastic bag. I am guessing they do this so little Mom & Pop shops can sell the candy piecemeal, but it seems a large waste to me. Not to mention the extra impact on the environment all this extra plastic has.

Sanuk!

Not just Mom & Pop Shops, 7-11 and Familymart are the same.

It really pisses me off when I just want to grab a candy and have to unwrap the bugger!

Could be for sanitation purposes, although in Thailand that seems an exception not the rule.

I actually think it is due to how Thai's consume candy, walk around any market and you will see stalls selling them individually or 2 for 1 Baht, very rare to see a Thai with a bag of candy.

I will know things are really bad when they start

wrap every damn potato ship in its own seperate bag.

wrapping is a curse.

i worked for many years with the elderly and things like sandwiches and packs of biscuits were wrapped up in such a way it was so hard for them to open.

i used to struggle at times opening the bloody things...... :angryfire:
