Plainsdrifter
Strange, novel theory about the reasons why rebellions originating in the rising price of food. What is stranger is why this should result in rebellions in the Arab world but not in the rest of the world where food takes up so much of the people's earnings. unit731
(CNN) -- Because of the severe heat and drought in the Midwest, global food prices are going up. Why? Because the U.S. is the leading producer and exporter of staple grains. We are for food production what Saudi Arabia is for oil production. Our crop shortages have ripple effects throughout the food system and disrupt the global markets, especially in the food-insecure nations. Earlier this month, the United Nations urged the U.S. to ease its ethanol mandate. The origin of this policy goes back to 2005 when Congress set requirements of corn to be used for automotive fuel. In 2007, the Energy Independence and Security Act greatly increased those requirements to improve air quality and become more energy secure. LINK "You're going to see the continuation of [political] instability driven in part by rapidly rising food prices. In 2008, we had food protests across much of the Middle East, so governments are going to be very much on the alert for unrest and very sensitive to it. Egypt is already spending about one-third of its subsidies on food, and it is draining the Egyptian foreign exchange reserve to continue those subsidies. This combination of an already mobilized population out on the streets demanding lots of different changes [in Egypt], and rising food prices is going to create a very unstable atmosphere." acockasian
Russian TV is more accurate than? No idea about Russian TV, but that interview and many others from a lot of sources are on youtube. Just search under Michael Scheuer and you'll see many different sources. You might find one of them more acceptable. Someone with 20 years in the CIA, who was head of the CIA Bin Laden unit, might know more than most most people. At least he probably knows enough that his opinion should be heard. He might even know almost as much as you do. No mention of ladyboy friendly hotels in Pattaya in the video but you really should watch it.
