Caretaker Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra abruptly left the Office of the permanent secretary for Defence Ministry after some 500 protesters rallied there Wednesday morning.

Yingluck arrived to work at the Defence permanent secretary's office at 9:45 am.

At 10:30 am, protesters led by Puttipong Punnakan, Sakoltee Phatthiyakul and Chumpol Jullasai - three leaders of the People Democratic Reform Committee - arrived at the office, which is protected by three layers of barbwires.

The three PDRC leaders called on troops at the Defence Ministry not to serve the proxy government of the Thaksin regime.

After the protesters arrived, Yingluck and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Surapong Tovichakchaikul left the compound through the back gate.

40 senators to ask Constitutional Court to rule on state of emergency declaration - The Nation http://shar.es/UCIPk via @sharethis

The group of 40 senators will ask the Constitutional Court to rule whether the government had violated the charter by declaring the state of emergency in Bangkok and nearby provinces, one of them said Wednesday.

Paibul Nititawan, an appointed senator and member of the group, said the declaration of state of emergency definitely violated Article 181 and Article 237.

Paibul said Article 184 prohibited the government from using state personnel to gain advantage in an election and Article 237 prohibited any political party from doing anything that would allow them to have an advantage in the election.

Paibul said he would file a petition with the court on Thursday.

PDRC tightens security around base at Victory Monument

The People's Democratic Reform Committee yesterday installed 28 security cameras at its Victory Monument rally site to step up security after a bomb attack on Sunday.

PDRC supporters continued to donate money to committee leader Suthep Thaugsuban to fund the anti-government rally as he led protesters to march through Bangkok's business areas of Sathorn and Silom.

Another group of PDRC protesters led by former Democrat MP Thaworn Senneam yesterday marched from Victory Monument to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment along Phaholyothin road.

Issara Somchai, another PDRC leader, led protesters from the Lat Phrao intersection to lay siege to government offices which have not yet closed their operations - the National Bureau of Agricultural Commodity Food Standards, the Office of National Research Council of Thailand and the Department of Agriculture.

Luang Pu Buddha Isara, the abbot of Wat Or Noi in Nakhon Pathom, marched with protesters from Chaeng Wattana Road to pressure TOT Plc. They were reacting to reports that assailants who launched attacks on protesters at the Chaeng Wattana rally site hid out in the TOT building after the attack. TOT's management vowed they would check to ensure no one used their building as a hiding place.

The abbot also led a protest to Thailand Post, which has signed a contract with the Election Commission to deliver ballot papers across the country and has already delivered ballot papers for advance voting on Sunday.

...

Meanwhile video footage of the bomb attacker was widely shared on the social network today along with the picture of a former driver of deceased Maj-Gen Kattiya Sawasdipol (alias Seh Daeng). The driver was said to resemble the bomb attacker at the Victory Monument yesterday. Maj-Gen Kattiya was killed by a sniper while giving a press interview at Lumpini park.

The former driver, identified as Lance Corporal Rachata Wongyod, was among the prisoners imprisoned on riot charges during the 2010 riot. It was questioned in the social network of why he was released from prison.

"...Meanwhile, a man whose photo was spread widely on social media and implicated as the suspect turned up yesterday in a clip posted on YouTube. The man identified himself as Lance Corporal Rachata Wongyord and warned people against further defamation, or claims that he was the suspect in the bomb attack. He criticised people who "doctored" a picture of him to make it similar to the suspect, and people who attack anti-government protesters.

Rachata served as a security chief under the late Army adviser Khattiya Swasdiphol (Seh Daeng). He said he had been charged with terrorism for being involved in a red-shirt riot in 2009, before being linked to the blast at Victory Monument..."
