Lao people are very friendly, it really is like LOS 30 years ago but with cellphones, no in your face sanuk, but still a wonderful place. Flashermac Posted November 1, 2014 Report Share Posted November 1, 2014 Coss is right across the river from Nong Khai, which is a good size Thai provincial capital. What you can't find in Laos, a quick trip over to Nong Khai or even Udorn should provide it. Nong Khai itself is a decent enough place. I may find myself up in Chiang Mai some day, since that's my wife's home town and where she currently works. Cambodia has no appeal to me, other than for a brief visit.
