Coss
A 19-year-old US model claims to have sold her virginity to an Abu Dhabi-based businessman for nearly $4.3 million on a controversial auction website. Cinderella Escorts, a Germany-based website which encourages young women to auction their virginity to wealthy older men, says the winning bid of 2.5 million euro ($3.87 million) beat an offer of $US2.4 million ($3.16 million) from a "Hollywood actor" and $US1.8 million ($2.37 million) from a "Russian politician". The woman, known as Giselle, said in a statement released by the website that it was a "dream come true", reports News.com.au. "Every woman has to decide on her own if it is worth to give her virginity for free to a boyfriend who maybe later on will break up with her, rather than selling it," she said..... http://www.nzherald....jectid=11945338 $4.3 million? T'were me, $43.00, if I've had a few. Whats the bet, that in 20 years time, if the "Abu Dhabi-based businessman" still has a substantial amount of money, she'll claim rape or molestation? and all because he's rich and theretofore, in a position of power taking advantage, of the innocent victim girl... zzzz
Prostitution is illegal in USA with the exception Nevada. Would this be considered prostitution? She could be in legal trouble if she lives in USA.

zzzz
I'm under the impression that in USA, the penalty for prostitution is something like a night in jail and a small fine.
Mekong
But how does the alleged offence fall under US Jurisdiction? The deal was brokered in Germany and no doubt the deed will take place in UAE!
zzzz
You are probably right. Prostituting herself overseas may not be punishable when she returns to US. It is a minor crime. However, I think some of the more serious crimes can be prosecuted in the US even if they are committed abroad.
Mekong
It is probably akin to an 18 year old US Citizen going to say Canada or Europe and Drinking Alcohol where it is legal at 18 or a US Citizen on Vacation in Netherlands and smoking weed in a coffee shop etc.
radioman
But how does the alleged offence fall under US Jurisdiction? The deal was brokered in Germany and no doubt the deed will take place in UAE! Well of course sex between two unmarried people in UAE is illegal. Though the male 'winner' in this case clearly has the cash, and likely the wasta that it's simply not a problem. In my lifetime I've done 2 virgins and one maybe. Complete and utter shite all three times. Luckily there was no monetary exchange involved and today I would refuse any advances from the unskilled. But the question was about USA prosecution not UAE, completely different kettle of fish But as you say the "winner" probably has the means and ways to make this not a problem
