Guest
Hi there, Has anyone ever bought a video cd (DVD)from the stalls along Sukhumvit. If you have where did you try to play it and did it work??? I presume they are copies of the real thing with all the problems of region blocking. Every time I walk past I always stop and look but never bought one because I do not trust that they will work in Australia. Any Ozzies ever buy one...........thanks. rovineye
Says uniformguy: Can u remember if they were region free or region 2, and where is Panthip Plaza.........thanks. Uniformguy Both. Some will not be available in certain zones. Depends on what "master" was. You look thru the books and pick ones you want. They look at the daily printout to see what is available in your zone or universal. About half are zone 2 or universal. Sometimes they screw up, but my son and I have picked up about a hundred and maybe 5 are flawed and 5 are wrong zone. Pnatip Plaza is on Th Petchaburi, between Phaya and Ratchadamri. Ratchathewi BTS stop, then a bit of a walk, or short tuk tuk /taxi.
ALHOLK
Hi! Are you sure of this. Region 2 is Europe and Japan. Thailand I believe is region 3 and I think many DVD's are copied from north American originals which is region 1. The DVD's I have bought in BKK have mostly worked but as my DVD player is region free I have no idea what region they might be. regards ALHOLK
Old Hippie
Personnally, I am having a hell of a time finding a region free player! I've heard the cheap "GoVideo" ones are region free, and many boxes now have no region specified, any ideas here? Also, when I bought a few movies on DVD, the seller asked me where I lived to make sure I got the right region. So far no problems except with one I bought at Wharehouse in WTC, the sales person told me it was region free recording, I like a fool believed him! ALHOLK
Hi! Sorry, can't help you much there. In Sweden they are perfectly legal so a lot of shops sell them. There are also shops that will modify existing ones to be region free and also remove the Macrovision on many models. regards ALHOLK
