Most all of the DVD copies in BKK are "ALL Region". Should work on all players.

To be sure, look for the region symbol on the DVD case. Most of the copies say "ALL".

Also, if you buy a DVD machine that has not been 'moded' to be all region, you can get the chips on the Internet. Just do a search. There seem to be quite a few places in the UK that have the chips and also will do the mod for you if you don't want to do it yourself.

Hi!

Are you sure of this. Region 2 is Europe and Japan. Thailand I believe is region 3 and I think many DVD's are copied from north American originals which is region 1.

Quite right. I had it hosed. About half were region 1 or all zones. Why so many are other zones I don't know, but lots were.

All mine that are not zone 1 or all, say that they are. Gotta find a more reputable pirate.

I also noticed the thread title was porno. All those seem to be all zones, and I have never had a problem with any of them. Maybe I need a larger sampling pool.

I've never had a problem with a wrong zone on a DVD bought in BKK. And I've bought a lot.

don't know why you had a problem.

Lately, I've been buying only Malaysia '9' DVDs, as it seems the quality is a bit better.

I usually buy from Panthip, but have also bought from the street, Fortune IT Mall, and Future Mall (Rangsit). Quality was a bit spotty until I settled on only getting Malaysia 9s.

Hi!

Many of the DVD's that I have bought at Pantip and Beach rd. Pattaya don't have a region on the case. Ofcourse this could indicate that they are region free. On the other hand several of the sales persons I have asked haven't understod what a region is. :(

Hi!

[color:"purple"] Lately, I've been buying only Malaysia '9' DVDs, as it seems the quality is a bit better. [/color]

Are these available in BKK or do you buy them in Malaysia. If available in BKK how can I spot them.

Most DVD's I have bought in BKK have ranged from good to acceptable quality. The exception is recemtly released movies which are often of appalling quality.

Actually, the only way to be certain of what you're getting is to have the seller pop the DVD into a player right there and examine it. Check the image quality, the alternate soundtracks, the extra features, the subtitles, everything. I've seen packaging that says Thai and Mandarin subtitles, but the disk actually had Malay and Cantonese instead (of course, in the case of porn, who gives a shit). And I've seen packaging that said the disk contained lots of extra features, but it didn't.

The packaging on the disks, however professional it may appear, is fake. You cannot be sure what you're getting by looking at the packaging. Must examine the disk before buying.
