How far would this go to getting people healthy? Keep eating the Big Macs (in reference to no one here) then run to the doctor to get some diet pills...great health plan/care! How about 'Has the medical industry cured death?' as it reads as anything less means they are not doing a good enough job. "furthered healthy eating and living?" How much are people themselves to blame for this? Nobody is forcing you to eat that Big Mac. Now, don't get me wrong, I have no doubt that big pharma's main interest is making money - and I would not at all be surprised their ethics & morals are lacking - but saying they are withholding cures just seems stupid to me. radioman Posted July 31, 2012 Report Share Posted July 31, 2012 Was always told that in UK people got to the Dr they need to get pills or they don't feel happy but in the US they need to get a shot to make them feel they got value. Not sure if that still holds today. I remember being a bit under with a nasty bug here a few years ago but needed to travel for work in a day or two. Dr prescribed an antibiotic, one injection, it took 15 minutes to get it all in! Did the trick though she said not something to consider with every minor bug. Pills=money for sure. As for what the wife says, just tell her you need deer penis! Hi, It wasn't even painkillers she was wanting me to take, but muscle relaxers. A Brit friend looked up the load of drugs he'd been given and found that some were definitely listed as not to be taken with each other! Good point Flashermac! Take an anti-inflammatory and it raises your blood pressure. Take blood pressure medicine and you begin swelling because of retaining fluids. Take a directic to get rid of the excess fluids....... Not to mention advances in Scanning treatments CAT etc, basic health care Doctors know now how to wash, Penicillin and derivatives, anti-biotics, and just plain old Asprin. K Sanuk I have a mate who has an ailment he has known about for years, so he knows exactly what he needs to take but some times it needs fine tuning which he's happy to discuss with a good doctor and top up his supply. He went to a Thai Hospital recently, saw a good doctor, who prescribed to him what he needed, but when he went to collect the medicine from the hospital pharmacy, the pharmacy had added at their OWN discretion (and you wonder how many times this happens!) about 5 extra packets! WHATS THIS FOR? So he went through them. Painkillers - Don't need them. Vitamins - Don't need them Health Supplement - Don't need them Pill to help me sleep - Don't need them Pretty coloured pill no one knows what it does - DON'T NEED THEM Took and paid only for what he'd discussed with the doctor, which required the Hospital pharmacy calling the Doctor to see if that was OK!
